The last thing anybody here wants is a war of words between Great Britain and the United States of America ,So lets drop the international insults right now.
I've spent alot of time in America and to be honest I've found the people to have a great respect for there guns and the laws that surround them.
If it were up to me i would meet the people half way ..,I would say keep your guns but from now on i would make it law that you can not hold more than one clip of ammunition unless you are hunting or at a gun range. I would (A) also limit the places where you could buy ammunition from and (B)make you sign a register for ammunition a bought.
A single clip of ammo for any gun should be plenty for protection and by making people sign for ammunition the government could keep track of who is buying what and where it is being used.
At least this way people would still get to keep and use there weapons.
Oh and the punishment for breaking these new laws should be a $10 000 fine and a life time ban on all firearms.

Also about your question on why Obama gets armed security. I don't know if you know this but hes kinda the President of the United States. So, that only makes him a HUGE target. You, in comparison, are not important enough to be a target of that scale.
