I don't have the authority to do that myself and I would be unable to make the changes I'm working on if the thread was locked. I put bright red text at the start of the thread and changed the title so people should get the message.

Here is what I have so far. This is a preview of what the overhauled topic will be like and I have quite a lot of work to do. I'll be creating resources like the tiered case list that help you make your decisions and show you the other possibilities.

Recommended Cases
Updated 1/10

Since I can't read your mind and know what sort of case you like, I'm going to leave the decision up to you. If there's a case you don't see here, there's a reason it's not listed. I have bolded my most-often recommended cases and noted if they are something other than a mid-tower.

Tier 1 - These cases offer exceptional value and will have no difficulty handling high-performance hardware.

Graphics Card Benchmarks and Info
Updated 1/10

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

This article will give you a good idea of what card is the best for any budget. Keep in mind gaming performance is the only thing considered and bear in mind that if you play mostly Nvidia-biased games (many games favor one manufacturer's cards) or use CUDA, this article is probably not for you.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Anandtech's site has an excellent tool that you can use to quickly and easily see how cards compare in a fairly wide variety of tests that are consistent. To search for benchmarks yourself, simply Google search the card and the game. There is no need to go into much detail to get the results you need and something like [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] will usually suffice and return plenty of great images and articles.

Power Supply List and Info
Updated 1/10

The power supply is the most misunderstood component of a PC. People far too often underestimate its importance, do not understand what makes a quality unit, misconstrue its specifications, latch onto bias and myths surrounding it, and generally lack a real understanding of it.

R00t, I can see that there are a lot of people on here asking still, and now that most of the helpers have been banned for reasons I do not know
(and I won't be asking) I wouldn't mind helping out now and again. However, obviously my knowledge isn't that great (well, it's not amazing) so have you got any advice to sort of improve it - any good forums where you can learn from the basics the understanding between good and bad - or is it a matter of research?

Seeing as I'm english, I would prefer sorting out the people in the UK.

If you need any help, just PM me back *ahippya*

Not calling you surely or anything, but surely that cable management could be a tad better ;)

Looks nice though, my favourite case. Since I'm running low, I'm going to have to opt for the fractal design core 1000
