Because knowledge is power my friend, if you're achieving this in school why not push yourself to be better than 'average.' With school you can find out how to adapt skills to actual life. Without English you would have a basic vocabulary, without maths you would have very poorly made structures and without history you wouldn't know about important things that happened like the Slave Trade ect. Without Science you would believe the Earth is a thousand years old. I could go on but i'm sure you understand my point.

I think we can all come to an understanding that basic knowledge is key. I think what the topic poster is trying to say is that we don't need to know all of the complicated stuff that we won't use in the future. For example, we won't need the whole class of calculus in the future. Unless you are a math teacher. And how many people taking a calculus class are going to become a math teacher? Slim to none...

School is here for a reason. Personally I hate it with a passion, but it has taught me pretty much everything I know. If there was no school & we all just went straight to University/College the world would be a mess. There is a reason there is different levels of knowledge of school. I live in Canada, we have; Essential level then College level then University level. Personally I'm not smart enough to go to University so I'm going to college for Plumbing. If we had no school before College/University we would have idiots going to University & smart people going to College, everything would be a giant mess.

So stay in school, study hard & enjoy the weeks.

Schooling definitely has a purpose. For one thing, it teaches how to make social connections (while this isn't a DIRECT teaching, it's a very big thing). Also, once you hit senior year in high school, you learn to balance out school work, applying for colleges, staying social, and working a part time job. It teaches you responsibility and how to maintain multiple things at once. Even if school may seem boring at times, it's more than necessary to shape out your adulthood

our future isnt looking to bright so school is more important now then ever. your going to need to be well educated in the coming years when the earth becomes more overpopulated then it already is and the prices of everything rise due to high demand. school isnt only full of stupid stuff. school is where i learned to deal with my finances, how to and how not to use a credit card and how to become successful, among other things. it might suck while your there, but its for your own good. also, the waitress example you gave is pretty bad because if you want a career in being a waitress/waiter, you have problems.

You'll see when you grow up how important school was. Believe me or not, but you'll see one day.

All that learning over and over again and you still can't capitalize your sentence. :trollin:
