***REMEMBER: THIS IS MY OPINION ON THE GAME, AND MY SUGGESTION***

BORDERLANDS 2

Synopsis:

Borderlands 2 is the epic sequel to the ultimate four-player role-playing shooter loot fest. Combining invention and evolution, Borderlands 2 features mixed online/split-screen co-op, all-new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story. Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.

Release Date: September 18, 2012
M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Language, Sexual Themes, Use of Alcohol
Genre: Action
Publisher: 2K Games
Developer: Gearbox Software

Campaign:

The Borderlands 2 campaign is very engrossing, taking you on a journey through the world of Pandora, in search of treasure and adventure. You can choose to play as one of five characters (5 without the Mechromancer DLC add-on): The Gunzerker, the Commando, the Siren, the Assassin, and the Mechromancer. You start your adventure by almost dying in the freezing cold, due to your train into the world being destroyed by the game's antagonist: Handsome Jack. The appeal of this game is the distinct shoot and loot style, in which you kill giant monters and crazed enemies, with a reward after each kill. The harder the monster, the better the loot. The effect of the gameplay is almost intoxicating, causing you to play the game until you find a rare gun, or a special class mod. Though the story is good, it fails in comparison with games such as Skyrim, or even some of the Call of Duty's. In my opinion, some of the characters needed more development, though the characters that are developed enough are memorable and hilarious.

Multiplayer:

The multiplayer in Borderlands 2 is essentially the campaign, except you and a group of 3 friends (4 total) can take it on together. The monsters get more extreme, and the loot is shared between the players, though one can still find a gun or two and steal it away for themselves. Players can choose to play as the same character, or a group of four can play as the four different characters, greatly benefiting the team. Next topic on the campaign and multiplayer together is the guns. There are literally millions of them. While many guns are common, and can be bought at vendors or won at slot machines, killing tough boss monters can reward any player with a powerful, rare gun. The class system goes as follows:
White (junk weapons that anyone can find)

Green (uncommon guns that are slightly better then white)

Blue (unique guns that can be found in gun boxes or by looting monsters)

Purple (rare guns that are better then all the others before it)

Orange (legendary guns with high amounts of damage, and you'll need the luck of the irish to find these).

Graphics:

The game's graphics are cartoonish and brightly colored, stimulating the eyes far more then other games. Apart from dungeons that are black and dark, all the territories in the game are vivid and visually great, even the snow stages are composed of many colors of the rainbow. However, the graphics may not be right for everyone, as they may seem childish to some.

Ratings:
Campaign: 9
Multiplayer: 9.5
Graphics: 9

Overall Score: 9.3

Overall, Borderlands 2 exceeded my expectations, and left me wanting to do far more then one playthrough. The gameplay was engrossing, the graphics didn't depress me like other games I have played, and the overall story, characters, and design were much to my liking. If you are in a GameStop and see this game on the shelves, pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

Asura's Wrath

Game Information
Release Date: February 21st, 2012
Developers: CyberConnect2
Publishers: Capcom
Genre: Action
Platforms: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360
ESRB Rating: Teen

Synopsis

Asura's Wrath is an action-oriented adventure of frenzied combat and otherworldly scope. In a style reminiscent of Devil May Cry or God of War, players control a supernatural warrior who faces relentless battles against overwhelming odds. The game is set in an original universe that mixes science fiction with Asian myth. Its hero is Asura, stripped of power and cast out by his fellow gods, seeking vengeance against the monstrous hordes and cosmic bosses that would exploit his weakened state. Fueled by rage, however, he is far from weak, and grows stronger with each vanquished foe.

Gameplay

You play as the main character in the game called Asura, a disgraced former general of the Gods who is framed for the murder of the Emperor by one of his brethren. His wife was murdered and his only daughter was kidnapped, he flies into rage trying to save his only daughter but gets stopped by a God named Deus who is the actual person who killed the Emperor. Asura gets thrown back down to Earth in which he hibernates for twelve millenia but then is woken up by young girl's prayers and now tries to get revenge on all the people who've betrayed him. Now he must fight against giant battle ships and powerful foes to attempt to stop the Seven Deities' cause. With each chapter in the game playing out like an episode of an anime series, you must progress through each level by filling up your burst meter in other words meaning you go into 'rage mode' which once filled you can progress further into the chapters.

Graphics

The graphics in the game are really outstanding! I personally don't care if the graphics were to be a bit bad but for this game the graphics blew my mind once I played it.

Here's a picture of a fighting scene taken from Wikipedia.

Controls

The controls are fairly simple once you start playing the game for a bit. Plus the game's controls are about the same as Devil May Cry so you can relate to some of the controls on that game.

Powered by the innovative technology of Frostbite 2, Battlefield 3 takes First Person Shooters to a whole new level.

Review:
Let me start by saying that this game is awesome it does have its problems some might not be noticeable but you'll notice later on. now battlefield 3 is defiantly the best out of the battlefield franchise. i actually bought this because a lot of companies rate it with a 8 or above. now remember just because companies rate it high doesn't mean its actually that good and its guaranteed an awesome game now don't get me wrong here its an awesome game but this game wasn't really what i expected it to be let me explain

Graphics (9/10):
its amazing so much better then black ops 2 the textures of the guns, area, vehicles. i haven't seen many problems with it since Ive got the game but once in a while there are late textures pop ins witch isn't something to cry about or really report that, without these amazing graphics i don't know how this game will turn out some choose quality over quantity, i choose quality but then again it really depend on the games for example i still play playstation 1 games and most have horrible graphics. if its a Shooter Game it should have amazing graphics you want to have that full experience and just enjoy it

Campaign (7/10):
to be honest i didn't really care about the campaign i went straight to the multi-player witch might be the reason why the campaign is short i think they just added that for an extra to the game or just make this game more interesting, without a game having a story will be stupid wouldn't it?. the campaign is pretty good some parts you might not understand all you need to do is continue playing and it will be explained later in the game. now i don't know if this game continues from the older battlefields i never played the campaigns. i recommend putting the campaign difficulty on the highest because if its on novice its like a walk in the park i didn't really enjoy it since every one is easy and i barely needed to take cover, they miss mostly every shot when its on novice the enemies are drunk lol

Multi-Player 7/10:
ok.. multi-player is nice and everything but what really messed it up for me is the Darn lag! you don't notice if your lagging until you die by a invincible force lol. now be warned in this game you should CAMP! trust me all you will see is campers this is camper galore right here. thats just what i dislike about the multi-player what i do like is the maps and vehicles, when i first saw a jet i thought oh wow i hope i can fly this thing when i got in and started to take off i didn't even go 5 feet and i already crashed! they didn't really explain the controls to me i don't know why they don't have mini buttons on the bottom of your screen for a quick tutorial! the vehicles really add to the experience of this game they really succeeded when wanting people to experience war, Big maps, Vehicles, 18 Players now thats war!. i recommended getting battlefield for pc as there are more players in a game up to 24 players in a console its 18 players

Controls (8/10):
There Like every other FPS game controls but if you dont like the controllers that are defualt no problem you can always change your control settings.

Setting Rating:8/10

Gameplay

the developers of minecraft xbox 360 edition have done a good job of making it seem like the original PC version but have added new features like Splitscreen and not having to have a server running to play with your friends and adding content downloads e.g Skin packs and xbox live dashboard themes and xbox live gamerpictures to put on your gamertag aswell as avatar items but to every positive comes a negative but i dont have many negatives about minecraft xbox 360 edition the only negatives i have are you dont have all the items you have on the original pc version aswell as not having mods such as tekkit and no online plugins for your game and the game is a bit buggy e.g the duplication glitch where you put a item in a chest and take it out when someone smashes the chest or something along them lines.

Gameplay Rating:9/10

Graphics

well sofar due to the game being a pixle game i havent realy minded the quality but if minecraft added the option to use your own texture pack like on the pc version of minecraft the graphics could become way better than what they are now and also the ma spawn time is quite long like if you find the end of the world or something it takes awhile to regenerate which can allways be annoying

Holy hot damn, this game is good! Borderlands 2 is truly a unique gem in the increasingly popular first person RPG genre. The games style and feel reminds me of a mix of Trigun, Unreal Tournament, and a little bit of Bioshock and Fallout 3. Also its funny as hell.

Its been a while since Ive seen a game like this that has such personality to go with the overall fun factor of the game play. Now this is unusual for me because I usually dont really care for these massive, open world, first person RPGs like Skyrim or Fallout 3. That is part of the reason I avoided this game for awhile. It took some convincing to finally get around to playing this game and boy was I wrong.

The game play is very addictive, the story is simple but good and well-done, the characters are some of the best video game characters I have seen in years, and it puts lots of new spins on the usual FPS conventions.

Its definitely not the deepest RPG experience out there but it doesnt need to be. Now I have not played the first game but you dont really have to play the first to understand this game, though it was made me very interesting in playing the original Borderlands now. Review time, go now!

Story:

Set on the planet Pandora (not the one with the blue cats) which holds legends of all kinds of vaults that hold mythical amounts of treasure. Treasure hunters known as Vault Hunters come from all over the galaxy come to this planet seeking a legendary vault hidden within the planet. The planet is controlled by the Hyperion Organization which is under control of Handsome Jack (isnt that the best name ever?) who has been luring hunters to the planet to kill them off to keep them from getting to the vault so he can keep it for himself and so the company can freely mine Eridium from the planet. Today, four Vault Hunters, Salvador, Maya, Axton, and Zer0 have made it to the planet and discover Handsome Jacks trap and end up left for dead near the planets pole. Pandora itself is a land of danger filled with arctic glaciers, deserts, wastelands, steep valleys, mountains, and volcanoes. In those lands they are filled with native creatures, bandits, psycho paths, killer freaks, robots, and other horrors you must face, plus Handsome Jack as a deadly plan for those on the planet who are trying to resist him.

You also encounter some strong allies in these borderlands. This game has some of the coolest characters Ive seen in a video game in awhile. There are characters like Scooter who is your typical redneck mechanic that has some questionable love interests, Dr. Zed your go to person for health with a questionable medical license, Marcus the gun seller who is always trying to make a buck, Miss Moxxi the sexy bar owner, Tiny Tina a mentally unstable 13-year old that is an expert with explosives, and Claptrap. Oh, Claptrap. Hes one of the silliest robots ever in a video game. Handsome Jack makes for one of the best villains Ive seen in a video game who is just constantly harassing you throughout the game. Hes such a condescending asshole but at the same time hes hilarious. The cast from the first game also become major characters as the story progresses. I am also happy to see that the characters that you play as are not just silent protagonists like you see in most games like this. While they do not talk directly with NPCs, they do talk and make wise ass remarks during combat. I prefer to have a character with personality than one that just stays silent throughout a game even though they are the hero.

The games story length is surprisingly long. Its taken me about three weeks to complete but Ive also been working at the side quests which there very many of. While the main missions are generally interesting and keep the story moving along, the side missions are a lot of fun as well. They range from massive treasure hunts, taking on a town filled with bandits, to something as simple as shooting a guy in the face who literally asked for it. While the game is long and has some epic boss fights, including the last boss, it does have a disappointingly short ending like many games these days and kinds sets it up for another game. BUT its not like thats it, there are still plenty of side missions to do and a few open up to you after you complete the main missions so there is plenty to do after the credits roll.

Gameplay:

If you like shooting and looting then you will love this game because youre going to be doing it A LOT. This game has soooo many guns. I really have no idea how many guns are in it because I seem to be always discovering new ones. Not only do you have the usual classes of guns such as assault rifles, pistols, sniper rifles, SMGs, and rocket launchers, you also have elemental based guns. They have one of five elemental effects such as electricity, acid, fire, slag (a chemical that causes enemies to take more damage), and explosive. They also take the usual shooter clich of red explosive barrels and adds in barrels that hold these elements to use strategically during gun fights. I have no idea how they have barrels of electricity but they are fun to shoot. In addition to your guns and grenades, you also have various shields which take another convention of modern shooters and makes it deeper. You can find, buy, or make better shields throughout the game and they all recharge at certain rates. Your shields recharge but your health does not. Youll need to find health items for that which I rather like because Im tired of the easy-peasy take cover and youll heal right up health system most games these days use. You will find money, ammo, guns, shields, and other goodies all over the place in this game and you will constantly be looting containers. It becomes very addictive. Also when you find new guns, shields, ect, a screen appears that shows the items stats and makes it easy to compare with the items you currently have. You can carry a lot on you but over time youll find yourself have to decide on dropping or keeping various items throughout the game.

In addition to all of your weapons, each class has their own individual special ability. There are four classes: Gunzerker who can duel-wield weapons of any find, Siren (which is the character I am using) that has a psylock power that lets her hold enemies in the air with psychokinetic abilities, the commando who can deploy turrets, and the assassin who can make decoys of himself. As you level up you can develop these characters as you want and they have their own unique abilities to gain. In addition to that, there is the Badass ranking system (yes, thats what it is called). There are hundreds of challenges to complete throughout this game and each time one is completed you get a badass token which you can use to improve various aspects of your character such as improving weapon accuracy or melee damage. This game constantly rewards you for your actions and improvement.

The characters are customizable in appearance but not nearly as deep as some first person RPGs. You do unlock different color skins and hair styles throughout the game but thats it so if youre looking to make a character that looks like you, youre going to be disappointed. However, I really dont mind much since these characters do actually have personality to them unlike in other similar type RPGs. However, another department that really could have used the customization is the weapons. While there are many, being able to add on optics or other attachments would have been nice. If you want an assault rifle with an optic, you pretty much just have to be lucky and find one. Also there are vehicles in the game, well, two to be exact. More vehicles would have been cool to see. Also, enemies have a flying vehicle but you never get to use one. I find that disappointing especially in one mission were it looks like you finally fly one but end up having to blow it up instead, though it leads to some funny dialogue afterwards. However, the biggest complaint I would have about this game is respawning enemies. After awhile, enemies will return to an area after you kill them. I understand its to help gain exp for leveling up BUT why do the bosses come back? Especially, if its a boss directly tied in with the main story. You do get the same about exp but Ive never seen a game bring bosses back like that. It makes you think what was the point of fighting them? Anyway, its not game breaking and if you want to relive a boss fight you can easily do so.

The final thing Id like to point out is that this is NOT an easy game. If you are not experiences with FPS games then you might want to take it slow with this. The guns fights you get in this game very chaotic, fast paced, and intense. Ive played many FPS games before I still find parts where I die over and over again. You respawn at check points, though it does cost money and youre treated to a wise ass remark from the automated voice from the respawn machine. This game is completely co-op though so if youre having too much trouble, grab a friend in person or online and you can play the game together!

Graphics:

One of the things that make Borderlands style is the cell shaded graphics. Nearly the entire game is cell shaded and gives it this comic book/graphic novel look to it. Its really cool and colorful despite the arid landscapes of Pandora. However, this does come with a price. There is a lot of texture pop-in. Its at its worst when loading up a game or loading up a new area and you will be seeing a lot of smaller pop-in throughout the game. I did also notice some frame rate slow down here and there but it was rather rare and not game breaking. I have a feeling this is not as much of an issue on the PC versions of the game. The character models look awesome. Some of the most unique character designs Ive seen in a game in awhile and excellent personalities to go with them.

Sound:

The sounds of gunfire and explosions will fill your speakers and you play through this game but what really steals the show is the voice acting and dialogue. This is one of those games where youll want to go around and talk to everyone just to hear the crazy crap they are going to say. This is bolstered by excellent voice acting which oddly enough has a lot of anime voice actors in it. From the main characters to the crazy psycho babble of the bandits, the voice acting in this game is lots of fun. The music is sadly less memorable. While it is definitely fitting with the sci-fi western setting, its just nothing I really care to listen to without the game. It reminds me a lot of the background music for Trigun. Fitting but nothing without its source.

Overall:

I recommend Borderlands 2 as one of the must play games of 2012. This game is so much fun and entertaining to play through. Considering that there are four different classes, it adds even more replay value to the game in addition to the already plentiful amount of side missions. There are already plenty of DLC missions for it as well. I know Im going to get a lot of hate for this but I think this is the way an FPS/RPG should be done and I strongly prefer it over games like Fallout 3.

I recommend this game for anyone who loves FPS games but is tired of Call of Duty or Halo.

I also recommend it to fans of Fallout and Elder Scrolls games and action junkies. Even if you arent crazy about the game play, you should still be able to find some laughs out of this unique and fun game.
