Zapfy wrote I can never get my head around this theory. I can't picture nothingness. I try to tell myself there is more than to a human than just a brain. But in reality, there isn't. Our life is just our brain. But when we are born we are born from nothing. Where does that nothing come from?

What? I read the first half of your comment and I thought "this guy may have some sense." I read the end and I lost that faith in you. Do you really not know? Egg and sperm? You and your brain are formed during pregnancy.
Lol of course I know that. I guess I'm just trying to combine science with faith.

Why would you want to do a thing like that?
Because I try to keep an open mind

There isn't anything wrong with keeping an open mind to things that could possibly make sense or that haven't already been directly or indirectly disproven.

You don't actually remember it, your brain was not formed enough to hold long term memories at that point. Your first real memories are most likely around the age of 2, but these aren't things that you can recall. It is likely that your can remember things as far back as 6.

there is no proof there is nothing..... noone has experinced death and able to tell the story about it this argument has been going on for ages and will continue .... so you argueing with me has no point..... now your intitled to your opinion and im intitled to mine and there is nothing that is going to change that.

No this argument has not gone on for ages. It is known that because the brain regulates everything you experience, you are incapable of experiencing anything after death. Your body may still exist(before decaying), but you won't know that. Death is not an experience, it's an occurrence.

Sith wrote I understand what you mean.

It depends if you feel that perception is separate from the mind and conscience or attached to it.

Personally, I think it is attached, so when the brain dies, the mind dies, the conscience dies and therefore perception dies.

There is just nothing.
It's a hard concept to grasp, probably one of the hardest, but do you remember what it was like before you were born? It will be the same.

Agreed, not too sure why you're getting thumbed down.
Perfectly reasonable statement.

Although, I lie and I am sure why you're getting thumbed down, because people don't like the thought of there being nothing whether it's because of memories with passed away loved ones or because they're too self righteous to accept that one day they will probably be nothing more than fluid used to feed a plants growth.

Moving on from that depressing topic and to an even more depressing one... your Homepage. :|

Showing people we sit using McDonalds WiFi all day? What's the problem?

I think I've gained a few haters recently though.
Either that or we're both wrong and I posted the stupidest thing conceivable.

just think of how it felt before you were born. you cant possibly know how it felt because you didnt exist, this could be how it could feel after you die
