This will most likely fail. Only because of all the gun issues the US is already going through. I would have liked a shooting sport back in high school but gun laws a very strict in AUS.

Yeah we're going through gun issues with the country right now, however, this has happened more than once and we always get past it. However, I understand why its happening, but I know for a fact it's not happening because of competitive shotgun clubs, that would be ridiculous. And honestly, I understand people are entitled to their own opinions, but writing a school article about it seems kind of ridiculous doesn't it?

True assault weapons have been banned since 1986 and special circumstances are required to own them now. Alarmist fear-mongering has resulted in rifles like the semi-automatic AR-15 being called an assault rifle.


But you're still missing the point of allowing citizens to own "military-style" (21st century translation: the media thinks they're scary and does not understand them) weapons. When the citizens are on the same level as the government, their rights are secure and the country is secure.

But I digress. Shooting is a sport just like archery is a sport. You should try it sometime; it's a lot of fun and there's a lot of room for talent. There is also the added benefit of posessing a skill you can use to defend your life, the lives of those around you, and your property. 1911 is much faster than 911.

I would love if my school opened up a shooting club. I think it's a great way to promote gun safety and have a little fun. I love target shooting and such. I think the girl that wrote the article is a real b***ch she has no clue about what really happens all she sees is the stuff on the news. But put in perception take all the gun owners (around all of USA) and take the amount of gun violence stories on the news so, there are a lot more responsible gun owners than not. BTW I voted you should have a shooting club.

I'm fine with school shooting sports. As long as there are responsible adult(s) that know what they are doing.

Wait, so you're telling me that kids who attend school in 'Murica are allowed to join "shooting teams" that give these kids guns for "recreational use"?

As a shooter myself I can give multiple reasons why this would work and fail.

Why it would work:

1. It would more and likely help students to remain calm if anything does happen instead of running around panicking not knowing what to do and making the situation worse.

2. The club could devise a plan to have a meet up and an escape route if necessary in another shoot out.

3. It would teach students more about and how to handle guns safely( I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone almost shoot themselves or others handling a gun wrong)

4. Another thing is it could help students identify the gun if the person got a way and police are needing help on it, and also the lethality of a gun and there chances to survive if ever shot(even though every gun is lethal in any hands)

5. Teach about bullets and there effect. Hollow points, FMJ, Shotgun shells, armor piercing, Poison Tip bullets( not actually poison what happens is the tip of the bullet is shaved in half so when it hits the bullet slows and starts spinning which tears apart whatever it's hitting and will more and likely kill you if shot in the stomach and up, all though it would take you a couple of days from the internal trauma)

6. Though I wouldn't see this happen but possible a training on teaching how to disarm someone if given the slightest opportunity.

How this would be bad.

1. As posted in the article someone could use this knowledge and use it against the school.

2. People would argue alot with certain things and stuff might not get informed what needs to be.

3. (this one kind of goes with 1) Someone could take that knowledge and use it outside of school grounds and end up doing some serious damage.

4. The school would more and likely not want people having and extent gun knowledge except for what they teach you.

All in all if you had someone who was experienced teaching you it would be fine. Another thing is anyone who wants to join should have a psychological test done to make sure they are fit and won't snap(though anybody can be in a mood and say there going to do whatever)
