Casca wroteEstablish wrote Alright, so I think I sprained my left wrist yesterday evening, but I can't confirm this since walk-in clinics are closed right now, and waiting in the hospital will take up the rest of my day. Anyways, I need to type up an 8 or so page essay today (double spaced). I can still type of course, but would it be smart to type that much with a strained wrist? I have searched this up on Google, and apparently, you're supposed to rest the wrist, but would typing really affect the recovery of the wrist?

It would depend on what kind of pain you are in and how you injured your wrist. The main concern to you typing would be swelling. If you are going to type I would rest it a while before hand.
Ice your wrist
Keep it elelvated to keep down the swelling
Apply some sort of compression bandage (not too tight that it cuts off the blood supply)
Good luck

Thanks for the links and advice, but there's no real swelling/discolouration, just this kind of mild, continued pain along the arm. I can still grab stuff and move my left wrist, just with more pain in than with the right arm. It's also a bit warmer than the other arm. Would that be considered serious enough to not type at all with it?

I think you will be fine. As long as the pain and swelling are minimal, there is little or no discoloration and you don't have any numbness in your fingers I think you just have a minor sprain.
Do you have any restrictions with wrist movment? (up, down and side to side)
How far up the arm does the pain radiate?
It is normal for there to be some heat. Just treat it with an ice pack or bag of frozen peas or other vegatbles.

I recently broke my left wrist, and typing with it just made it very sore and uncomfortable. As long as you're not going too hard on it you'll be fine.

Yes, it will. I sprained my wrist before playing basketball and I wasn't allowed to use the computer or do anything that involved using my wrist.

There are no restrictions with wrist movement, and the pain is from the wrist to the middle of the forearm, but can extend close to the end of it if I turn it. There is a slight bit of numbness when I put my hands in a fist, is that bad?

As long as you continue to have movment you will be fine. The pain is normal, straining the ligements in your wrist will cause them to stretch. They are attached all along the forearm, which explains the pain. The numbness is caused by the swelling sqeezing the nerve endings, which is normal.
Best thing is
Rest (until you have to type)
Ice
elevation above the heart
I think you will be fine. Just monitor the pain and see a doctor when you can to confirm that there is no major damage. It sounds like you have a minor sprain and have nothing to worry about, but I would still see a doctor, Advice from the internetz is nothing compared the knowledge of a licensed physician.
