If he's a tightass, let him "use" the computer and convince him he broke it. (Always works) however, if he is a very understanding person just tell him:)

tell him the truth. It's almost always the better option. your parents will trust and respect you more.

im sure you can get it repaired, or just tell your dad that it stopped working and that it could be a manufacturing error of some sort. take it in to a local pc store and im sure they would beable to fix it for cheap
