Why were you wanting to upgrade was its performance not great or did you want to for the sake of it?

If you wanted an upgrade i'd consider the i5-3570 probably the most recommended CPU in the history of mankind.

I'm converting to PC gaming from consoles. My current rig is ok for most games, but I am hoping to be playing GTA V and other demanding games.

Games rely on the graphics card more than the CPU unless its particulary demanding. In any case an i7 isn't needed unless you plan to do heavy editing or rendering. That card should be decent for that game.
