I'm building a computer for a friend, I wan't to know what you guys think specs wise. Any improvements or suggestions are welcome in the comments below, thanks!


CPU- AMD FX Series 8-core 4.1 (5.0Ghz Turbo Boost)
GPU- AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB Edition
HDD- 2TB + 2x 1TB External's
SSD- 256GB (Raid 0)
RAM- 16GB (Expandable to 32GB)

BluRay + DVD Drive (R, RW, ROM, etc..)
Operating System- Windows 8 Ultimate (Windows 7 Ultimate Dual Boot)
Power Supply- 1200w

Monitors: 2x 23" Samsung HD 3D
Case: NZXT

Keyboard: Razor Dealthstalker Ultimate
Mouse: Razor Naga Molten Edition
Headset: Razor Kraken Pro

In my opinion, 1200W seems a bit much for that system.

Shouldn't an 800w be fine?

Possibly but highly unlikely because the graphics card alone requires 250w, everything all together would need around 1000w's so I went with the 1200w just to be safe.

Silly boy xD That means it recommends a PSU of 500w, not the card requires that, the card will require about 250w, a 700w supply will be fine.

Also that is the avg watt usage while idle, not while gaming etc...

Even at that, 700-800W would be fine, also giving room to overclock. 1200w will only ever be needed, in my opinion, in Tri SLI/Crossfire builds.
