I personally believe that, if the human race is going to go extinct, then it will be as a direct result of our own actions.

I.e, we kill ourselves in a nuclear holocaust.

The Earth itself will be inevitably destroyed when our Sun begins to swell up and expand, a process that will begin in around 1.1 billion years, most to all of the life will be extinct on the Earth's surface in around 4 billion years and our Sun will engulf the Earth in around 7.5 billion years.

However, I do not believe any natural event will be the destruction of humanity, as the human race has a remarkable ability to survive natural pandemics. For example, the bubonic plague. Nowadays, with the technology we have, any extinction scale natural disaster will be at least partially predictable, giving us the chance to prepare, and thus maintain the longevity of the human race.

This is why I believe we will kill ourselves, we are a durable race, and (should) survive any natural disaster that is thrown at us.

I think it will evidently be our stupidity that will kill us, we are too caught up in greed that we are running our world into extinction. We are deforesting, polluting, and overpopulating the Earth which is running the Earth's resources into the ground.

Some scientists already believe we are the mists of the sixth mass extinction.

If not though I think it will be from natural causes such as an asteroid, I don't think we will ever make it as far as seeing the Sun die out, we will be long gone before then.

Probably from the human race blowing eachother up and eventually turning the whole world into a radiation zone.

Failing that, in a few billion years time the inevitable dying of our sun will be the end of the world as it will engulf Earth as it dies.

I think the world will end for us by a outbreak of a virus.

What about if the population of women went down, and the rest only had baby boys. Then there would only be men, and then the human race could not run on anymore. After all the men died, there would be no more humans.

I think the population will die from something from space (asteroid etc..) but the planet itself wont go completely
