Either more RAM or a stronger CPU, but since most Macbook CPU's are soldered, RAM can be the only thing to try.
How much do you currently have?

That's hard drive capacity. Memory/RAM is different. You can have issues when your hard drive is at near 100% capacity, but it's obviously not. If your RAM usage is around 90-95% in the tasks you do, you would benefit from an upgrade.

That's not how RAM works.

You need to upgrade your CPU speed. RAM gives you better performance when running multiple applications at once.

All computers should run the same (of course different style) Anyway, I was trying to help and it is true that RAM improves overall performance when using a load of applications at once, It could possibly be due to his core, Like a i3 core could be affecting it?

It's not an Air. He didn't mention which year of Macbook Pro it is, anyway. He could be running a Core 2 Duo or a Haswell i7.
