So this is going to be a rant on something that happened today.

SO basically my aunt and uncle and grandfather are not even gonna do anything for me NOR give me anything for christmas, the second whatever i dont care, but the first thing? REALLY?

They say its because im atheist and i shouldnt celebrate christian holidays.

Well

1. chrisitans stole the holiday from the pagans 2,000 years ago, so it isnt even their holiday its a copy and paste, this has been PROVEN.

2. Christmas may have christ in it, but it is a cultural phenomenon, everyone in the us that isnt islamic or jewish or buddhist just about celebrates it, and because i have a different opinion than you i shouldnt be allowed to celebrate christmas?

So done, mods please dont remove this post

I usually don't agree with you on much, but this I agree with.
Christians shouldn't dictate who celebrates Christmas.
Although, I don't think that saying just because many elements of it are Pagan, that means Atheists are just as justified in celebrating as Christians are, because then you would have to uphold other Pagan holidays and traditions too, if you make that claim.

I celebrate Christmas because I like the festivity, even when I was a Christian, it was always more about the dinner, the carols, the presents and the all round fun than it was worrying about whether we would go to Church or not on Christmas morning.
Surely the Christian thing for your aunt and uncle to do would be to let you celebrate Christmas in the hope that it might rekindle some of the religiosity that you lost?

Who knows, but I think they're wrong for shunning you.

Everyone has the right to celebrate what they want despite any religious views or background.

Putting religion aside, and i mean this with no offense, but why do you feel entitled to gifts on Christmas in the first place? I say that because you stated the origins/roots of Christmas, but forgot that Christmas is supposed to be about giving not receiving. Unfortunately, no one can make your aunt, uncle, or grandfather give you something if they have already decided not to. Well, if you're looking for a bright side, at least you don't live in a place where if you come out as atheist, your stoned to death... legally.

Oh, to the other people saying there is a law that lets you practice any religions or none at all. It does say that, BUT no where in the first Amendment does it say that, BY LAW, your parents, guardians, or friends HAVE TO celebrate Christmas.

Muslim kids in Romanian orphanages have to sit aside as the christian children get presents from charities. How fair is that?!?

That doesnt even relate to this. His aunt, uncle and grandfather not doing anything for him on Christmas is not a violation of the constitution.

OP, technically you can celebrate Christmas, you just wont receive gifts. I do agree with you though, I dont think what they are doing is right. I'm not trying to hate on your family members but people like that are very ignorant.

Your just mad you are not receiving any gifts.

Ungrateful, immature and degrading. (to yourself)

The world doesn't revolve around you, suck it up and enjoy the hundreds of pounds mummy and daddy are going to be spending on you.

God help our bratty "ME ME ME" younger generation, you just HAVE to get presents from every family member or they are the bad right?
