For me the kinect is what makes this console awesome at night i can just hop in bed and say xbox off and yes and then the console is off and im asleep then after a hard day at work i can come home sit down and say xbox on and play (game) without kinect the console would be just like an xbox 360...

Why are people making such a big deal out of this? lol you can just unplug it if you don't want it and no one can hack into your kinect

Because I'm pretty sure that would make the console not work.
It would probably give you an error message like: "Kinect Eye's View Obstructed."

also Microsoft said themselves that the xbox one doesn't need the kinect plugged in to work.

Wow a pretty crazy way of "fixing" this. If the NSA wants to see me making bombs in my living room with my family then so be it at least we are having family time

i believe there was a video from microsoft when they were showing what the xbox could do in a living room setting (showing skype and voice commands) where they had it covered so the guy wasn't signed in right away...?
