While some hesitation and shock is understandable from the bystanders, what the Person did was perfectly legal in the state of Texas. The cops were in the wrong here. As Police Officers in Texas, they should be very familiar with the Gun laws there. I'm surprised this happened.

Horizex wrote I mean if they were never legal to carry in the first place then there wouldn't be nearly as much out there but yeah I understand where you guys are coming from it's to late to take action in just trying to say things could have been different if they where never legal to carry at all and I understand some criminals would get there hands on guns but that number would have been reduced

That logic is flawed aswell because it's not everyday, responsible Gun Owners going out and shooting places. It's Criminals who typically have unmarked, cleaned, ILLEGAL, Weapons. Taking away weapons from Shops and other legal places of sale will not keep them off the streets, or out of the hands of Criminals.

Just a question, I'm guessing you're from the UK, yes?

*Edit: I'd also like to meet the Congressman who plans on talking Alaska into going peacefully with proposed Gun Restriction laws.

The point is, criminals would have guns and law abiding citizens wouldn't.

If you don't like America's gun laws, stay in the UK.

Gun laws are absurd and tax dollars go to a ""royal"" family.
Ain't hurting me any.
I'm Canadian Eh

Close enough to know what goes on.

If America is as feared as you're talking about, why is there nearly 9 times that amount of people that choose to live in America when Canada is bigger than we are?

830 firearm related deaths in Canada in 2010.
That is 7471 deaths once you multiply it by 9 to compensate for the population difference.

Totally super safe there man.
Totally.

I cant believe you are arguing that US is a 'safer' place to live than Canada.

So are people scared that cops have guns? No, why? Because they have a uniform. Off duty cop wiith a gun, people go nuts.

It should also be noted that:
"Well they are trained" is NOT a valid argument.

In order to get a concealed or open carry license, you go through vigorous safety and gun training lessons.

I don't agree with Americas gun laws, however, this man should not have been arrested.
Gun control reduces murder by huge amounts, look at these figures of murder by firearms,
The UK (Strict gun laws) 0.02 per 100,000. America? 3.6
Well done America!
