OT: well if you have not soldered before I'd recommend sending it to someone to do for you saves you failure and other costs and can be cheaper if you don't have anything.

r-jtag can be done on the latest dash but is harder to install than rgh. r-jtag is supose to bring the jtag's stability back to the latest dash. the r-jtag has more or less instant boot times like the original jtag.

I'm not a expert at soldering but I do take classes where I solder at school. Is that enough experience

I started off doing it from scratch. Although I practised on a few dud mobos to get the hang of it. Every JTAG/RGH Iv owned iv done myself

If you haven't had the experience on the small points of an xbox motherboard, I don't suggest going straight to your working console.

I went through 2 xbox's before I mastered soldering the points. Once you get used to it, it's a breeze.

Make sure to use plenty of flux, you can never have to much and you can wipe off excess.
Total materials:
- 15 W Soldering Iron ($12 Radioshack)
- Flux ($7 Radioshack)
- Kynar Wire ($6 Radioshack)
- Rosin core solder (thinner the better $5)

== roughly $30

And then the cost of the rjtag itself/flasher(jrprogrammer)

It's your call. For me personally, I don't think it's something you should try yourself if you've had very little soldering experience. Just my two cents.
