Kids are exposed to the public more easily now a days... that's really the only difference.

Talking about the new generation like a bunch of trouble makers has been a thing since the 50's.

Yet at 18, a teenager has to make decisions that will impact their entire life and future. But I guess we should have parents make those decisions, yeah, I can imagine all of the people going into fields that they don't like because their parents made them.

But, I suppose you're right. I kind of feel guilty for violating this rule, as I did not tell my parents I could sign up for a TTG account Guess I should have asked for their permission, as it obviously was a decision I was forbidden to make on my own.

At 18 your not considered a teenager anymore, at least around where I live. I guess I should have said "Teens 13-17". And really, TTG has an age limit, so your point does not make sense. Also, you parents should be in proper control of you until you're 18. If they don't care enough about the risks and dangers that come with things like pregnancy, drugs, alcohol then the kid has not been taught right, therefore it's the parents fault. Even if you choose to do drugs, it's the parents job to catch, help and set you on the correct path, unless they don't care and are immature.

The point of that remark on TTG was to show you how ridiculous saying that teenagers should not be making their own decisions. If I can't make any of my own decisions, I guess I can't even make the decision of joining TTG.

Also, it doesn't matter what it is where you live, TEENagers are from thirteen-nineteen. That's why they're called teenagers. It's not some random arbitrary name used to describe people who are under 18, it's used to describe those that have an age which ends in teen. For the record, university apps are usually done from January-April, and most teenagers when applying to universities and actually deciding their future are really 17, not 18.

Finally, is it really all the parent's fault? Why is it that one child in a family can be a nice, respectful, law-abiding member of society, but another child can grow up to be a prisoner? It's obviously not the parents fault in this scenario, as they obviously parent the same.

In the United States, when you turn 18 you're an adult. I was not, not saying that the word teen (13-19) didn't mean you were a teenager. What I was saying was after the age of sevenTEEN(Since you're so focused on the word teen), you are an adult that makes their own decisions, its when you grow up and pay bills, go to college, own a car and buy your own food etc. It is the parents fault. If the parents cared so much about their child, why let them run around smoking, drinking, having sex under the legal age? They were not taught right. They made those decisions because they knew they wouldn't come home to their angry father which would discipline them for their actions. The juvenile delinquents of our generation and their and decisions leads back to the way they were raised and how their parents act.

Truthfully i think parenting skills have decreased now a days! Kids can just say anything in front of their parents and they don't even care!

Since you seem adamaent to disagree with anything that Establish or I, say, I had a quick look at your profile. According to your profile here, you're 17 years old. Does mummy and daddy hold your hand through everything? I sincerely hope not because if they do, that's quite frankly, pathetic. Sometimes, the way parent's raise a child can be to blame but not all of the time. If you look at larger families with 2 or more children, often, there is one nice child and one who is not so nice. How can you say that the way they were raised can be blamed? A child's upbringing determines who they are in later life, yes, but mummy and daddy can't be with you 24/7. The people you hang out with also determine how you act in later life because they form your identity.I don't think their are 14/15 year old kids going home and saying "Guess what dad, I had sex with someone last night", it's not that they're not afraid of being disciplined, it's that their parents don't know what's going on in their private life. Key word there, is private. If you want to be a moron, that's fine. No need to argue with myself and Establish though. Since I'm not 18 yet, does that mean I have to have my parents buy my food? What about my PC, car, consoles, accessories, mobile phone etc? Should my parents pay for that? No, I'll buy all of the luxuries I want, with my money. The same as if I want to smoke, I will. I legally can smoke so my parents can't stop me and the reason I started smoking is not because of the way I was raised, but who I was friends with. My friends smoked and I thought I'd be "cool" if I did too.

Instead of trying to create a new definition for the word teenager to fit your "argument", and ignoring 90% of my actual post, answer this simple question, which I stated in my previous post:

Why is it that one child in a family can be a nice, respectful, law-abiding member of society, but another child can grow up to be a prisoner?

Because they fail to abide by their parents rules, and think that they're not loved, while the other gets all of the attention. You only see that in dysfunctional families.

LOL I hate when people post / say these sort of things because it makes no sense. Kids will do things that appear "cool" and this goes for EVERY GENERATION. I guarantee that kids 10 years old then you said the same thing about you and your peers when you was growing up. Your kids will say the same things to their kids, etc...

Furthermore, each generation is the same, just different "themes". You people act like the 1900's was full of lovable angels. Like girls in the 1990's wasn't labeled and guys didn't want to have "swag".

To me it sounds like you're jealous because they are having a better child hood then yours.

I don't know, I agree with you, a couple of days ago I saw a 5 year old call his sister a s***. I felt like walking up to that kid and smacking him
