Not a pro, but could plug your Ethernet cable into your laptop and bridge the xbox connection with your laptops wireless adapter?

After you set the xbdm plugin did you restart your console? You might want to do that and retry connecting to the IP in xex menu if you didn't

I got an "E 71" error message after doing that.
I managed to fix it luckily

E71 is just a bad plugin, make sure you have more than just xbdm set as a plugin, because if it's by itself it causes this problem a lot

What other plugin would you recommend?

RPC.xex
JRPC.xex

I'm using those with xbdm as the first plugin, my console connects fine
