Now I personally could care less what platform and game you play on. Let's face it, everyone seems to care what others play. Xbox and Playstation users seem to despise one another, Battlefield and Call of Duty fanatics couldn't stand one another, and PC hates everyone who doesn't use a PC to game.

Personally, I feel it's ridiculous. It's sort of like saying "You prefer to dine in at a restaurant, while I prefer to get it delivered. So I don't like you, your preference is wrong." Why? Well with the comparison, we're both hungry, we both order food and we both have the same goal in mind (to be full). The only difference is how we go about it.

I prefer to sit at home and eat while you prefer to go out and eat in somewhere else.

So how does this apply? Well we all enjoy playing games, in fact, the reality is we all probably have at least one gaming preference in common. We all have the goal of relaxation and enjoyment. So why hate on each other for how we go about this?

*I realize hate is a very general and broad term but for the sake of this rant, go along with it and just replace it with whatever word you feel fits the situation*

About me

I see a lot of arguments centered around, "If they like consoles better, they must not have even played on a PC!". So to prevent any sort of rebuttal like this, I'll explain my personal backstory, in fact, if you respond with this, I WILL ignore your point.

I started gaming on the Super Nintendo and N64. Around 1996~ I started gaming on the PC and I played, Starcraft. Up until extremely late into my teen years, I played mainly PC games and hardly even touched the playstation or Xbox.

I was an avid Starcraft, Diablo and Warcraft III player. When the Xbox 360 came out I started to play that increasingly more.

Around 2008 I bought a higher-end family laptop. It could run the games that just came out on Medium-ish. I started playing Starcraft II constantly. For anyone who played Starcraft II, I mainly played ladder. I was a Diamond on 3v3 and a Gold in 1v1. Nexus Wars was also a favorite.

Point 1 - Convenience

A console is extremely convenient. You unpackage it, plug it in and it's ready to go. No installing an Operating System. No system updates. No incompatible hardware where you need to find drivers.

Essentially, the console is mainly meant for gaming, therefore is requires much less maintenance. I re-installed Windows 7 on my PC and the updates alone took hours. One Starcraft II update takes about 2 hours. On a console, updates generally take minutes.

To summarize my point, there is much less maintenance on a console, therefore it appeals to others who don't want to worry about the hassle of configuring everything.

Point 2 - Longevity

Sony Timeline
-PS1 1995
-PS2 2000
-PS3 2006
-PS4 2013

Microsoft
-Xbox 2001
-Xbox 360 2005
-Xbox One 2013

Between each console generation there is an average of a 5 year gap. For those 5 years, every single game for your console on the market can be played without any modifications. That product is guaranteed to work. Most of the time, those previous generations are supported for a couple more years to come.

PC however, you may need third party software (Steam, Origin, Frameworks, etc.), you may need to do a system update and you may have to shell out some money.

Wrap Up point - Cost

First and foremost, average PC gamers have admitted to spending 200$ a year (on average), in upgrades. For some, this includes new monitors or keyboards while others focus on the hardware itself.

(Please consider that this was taken off of multiple forums, where people asked how much have you spent yearly in the last x years.)

Most of the time this may be spread out. However, that alone states that in a console generation a PC gamer on average, may spend about 1,000$. A console gamer could buy the console for 400$, and won't necessarily need to spend any more money specifically for the console, until the next generation.

So arguably, console gaming is slightly more cost effective depending on the situation.

In conclusion
PC Gaming IS a more quality experience, anyone would be a fool to not admit that a PC is much more powerful and provides a much general purpose. However, you're a fool if you also state that one platform is better in every aspect.

The reality is that everyone prefers a platform for a specific reason. (I prefer console for the cost effective nature, and not much up-keep. I also prefer Xbox for the exclusives) Since what they enjoy doesn't change what you enjoy, stop complaining.

I find that PC elitist ruin games for me on pc. I have never been in game where no one mentioned something bad about consoles/ how great pc is. I also find it annoying when me and my Friend Play Payday the Heist on PC and when we discuss xbox they always start talking crap to us and telling us How great PC is. I mean come on were playing on PC theirs no need to have a console war. But I hate pc elitist as they ruin the pc experiene.

Well in my words I enjoy PC to where I feel I can have an opinion supported by personal testimony and proven fact based on my build. However I will not go in someones face and spew it all over them until they drop and cry. I keep my opinions to myself unless it is prominent in a debate or like here, a rant.

I agree with you. Its those kids with Cyberpower PC's that demoralize us PC gamers who actually could give two shits about wars.

I agree lol The PC gamer community as a whole is a bunch of a*shats.

I was playing some SW:TOR and someone got massively butthurt because I was a free member and the reason was because I was mainly a console gamer. They ranted for a good hour about it.

The Starcraft custom games community is pretty shitty too.

EDIT:
Not the whole community, just a noticeable portion.

You want to destroy your PC, play Dota 2 or LoL online with voice chat and side chat. Those Russians will make fun of you to the point you will want to rip your spine out.

Generalizations can be made about every gaming category. I am just a simple PC Building and love PC's in general. I play on all consoles and could care which is better. Its those people who state idiotic and incoherent phrases that get me going. Nice post sir.

Well, the fact is that PC's are much more powerful than consoles and the graphics on a PC can be multiple times better than that of a consoles.

On the other hand, I think it's pathetic for anyone to bash another person's preferences. I have a PC and consoles. I play PC when I want some good graphics or fun mods. I play console when I want to have a little fun and mess about, as well as chat with friends. I don't see any problem with that and I don't see why anyone else should have a problem with another persons preference?!

I agree. I look at it as, PC's have to be much more powerful anyway because it's meant for SO MANY different purposes, that it'll optimize multi-tasking and speed up processing, which in turn helps out gaming anyway.

Consoles are usually on par because it'd be pointless to create different platforms with massively different specs, because less games would be ported.

It's just how I look at it.

Lol I really never actually got into DOTA or LoL. DOTA was originally from Warcraft 3, fun fact.

All I know is Koreans are obsessed with Blizzard games.

Point 1

- Console systems have system updates
- They have incompatibility issues take the RROD for example, to truly fix it you would send it Microsoft Support for 1-2 months instead of fixing it on your own

Point 2

- I have had xbox 360s since they came out, over the 8/9 years its been out, I have had 8 they are horrible for lifespan

I did enjoy the consoles for convenience, and how easy it is to connect with your friends other than that I dont believe they have anything on PCs

And everyone complaining about "Gaming communities on the PC" they are the same on consoles, that whiny child who did various things with your mother. Its the same everywhere, just because you dislike the platform you cant use it as an argument against it when its the same on your preferred platform

Like I said on the other PC elitist topic, its basically a matter of preference and doesn't even matter.
