That's a pre-built and it sucks. This is the PC building section, don't recommend pre-builts to people, especially when they're that bad. It doesn't even have a GPU.

OP-The monitor EVCzBuRGR suggested is terrible, don't get it. The one you asked about is alright, but the one in the build I recommended is also perfectly fine, and it's $30 less expensive.

The FX-6300 has 3 physical modules and inside each are 2 cores. The FX-6300 isn't a true six core CPU like the Phenom X6's were. It's a $700 build that requires an OS and monitor, so the PC itself is around $500. It seems you just copied my build but changed the GPU, CPU and mobo. The R9 270 can be overclocked easily to the standards of the R9 270X. With the i3, OP can upgrade to an i5/i7 whenever he wants. With an FX-6300, he has 2 upgrade choices, an FX-8320 or an FX-9590. With Intel, there are several upgrade options.

That's what I said, the AMD FX has 6 modular cores (I forgot to place logical in there). The AMD FX 6300 is a more of a suitable processor for this particular build, the era of dual core gaming is far over. The AMD FX 6300 can withstand and do more impressive job than that of the i3 processor. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . Yes, I did use your build as a general reference to alter- hence I said "altered". I do agree with you on the obsolete socket, but it's still an impressive processor and AMD recently just announced a cheaper lower voltage 8xxx series processor, so this could hint for a refresh on the AM3+ socket.

Granted, AMD's FX series still have some good CPU's at good prices. However, it would be a much better choice to go with an i3 for upgradability to an i5/i7 at a later date. Intel's higher end CPU's beat all of AMD's FX series. I don't keep up to date with AMD CPU's that much, but "AMD recently just announced a cheaper lower voltage 8xxx series processor" that wasn't so recent, I heard about it a while ago. Even then, there is still more, and better upgrade room with Intel. If OP wanted he could get a Pentium G3258 and Z97 chipset motherboard, overclock it and it would beat the FX-6300 hands down.

You truly do make a valid point. The i3 processor would be a logical choice for an individual whom would want a basic processor that has the capability of being upgraded to an i5/i7. I guess there isn't hope in a new AM3+ processor resurfacing.
