The best phone on the market is probably the " Sony Ericsson Walkman " in Orange and White.

Doesn't smash, doesn't bend and doesn't have wifi.

What more could you want? A phone for only Calling and messaging, with a great style and of course a fairly small screen for more protection.

I've had bad experiences with Xperia's and HTC's in the past, just putting that out there. I personally changed to an iPhone 5 because it's all I need. I use my phone to text, call and use FaceBook now and again, as well as check e-mails constantly so the iPhone was the best choice for me personally. It all depends on what you want from a phone. Solid choices right now are the Galaxy S5, the Moto X, the HTC One M8 and iPhone 5S. I wouldn't bother with a 6 or 6+ since they don't look very nice. I'm personally waiting for the next iPhone to be released.

I work as a salesman for Verizon and I'll tell you that there are 5 possible contenders for the "best mobile phone"

They are:

Apple iPhone 6, 6 plus
Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
LG G3
HTC One M8

I am personally an apple person but I have considered switching to all of these at one point.
Hope this helped,

If you want to switch to Android you might wait a month or two for the Nexus 6. Supposed to be an awesome phone for a pretty decent price.

Personally, I have the 6 plus & I'm in love with it so far! It's a great phone and worth a check out. But if your going for an Android I would purchase the S5 or the Note 4.
