Don't want to be rude. But this is my personal opinion. Read at Caution. You have been warned!

Just saying, I am in the process of making me a gaming studio for me and my buds, I currently have around 3k Subs on YouTube. I make a decent amount of money, actually enough to build my gaming studio, get brand new controllers, 3 Xbox 360's 2 Xbox Ones. And it seems i have unlimited Turtle Beaches laying around. So YouTube in my opinion, IS a career. And if i make it big, I hope that'll be enough to allow you to face the fact that YouTube is a career. People put all their hardwork into it whether you realize it or not. I know for the fact PewDiePie even though he bought fake subscribers to promote him, has and always continue to work hard for his current career. Also guess what's so great about working with YouTube ? You don't have to wake up early, worry about having tattoos, or the color of your skin. Why? Because (not all the time) people are just into what you are promoting and playing on YouTube.

I think I covered everything in my mind, opinion done.

What are the odds of becoming famous probably 1and every 1million
YouTube will not get you money to pay the bills to feed your kids if you ever have any which I do (won't go into that) won't get you a nice car won't get you money for insurance won't get you a nice house won't get you money for anything really that is actually needed
and what benefits does it give you? Absolutely nothing why would you want that people need to step into the real world of life and need to see you can't make a living off of something that was just made for fun
it annoys me that people are like oh yea I play cod all day and record sign me a contract its stupid videogames is not a job its ENTERTAINMENT PEOPLE not a job
you won't be laughing when your in the streets begging for money

I actually agree with you; for the vast majority of people, YouTube isn't a career. Sure, there's PewDiePie, Smosh, and a select few thousand who get paid thousands, even millions for videos that they post on YouTube. But again, they're the select few.

I don't think he's trying to say that YouTube itself isn't a viable career for everyone, because it is a career for a few people. But, since only a couple thousand people can actually generate enough money to live off of YouTube, and turn it into an actual career, it is a very hard industry to come close to making a living in. As a result, for most people, it is not a career, but a hobby.

YouTube, for most people will not make enough money for them to pay their bills, feed kids, etc. And for most people, YouTube is just a hobby, not an actual career where they get paid enough to sustain themselves.

People might mention acting, professional sports, etc, and say that the same rules apply. And largely, they do. Only a few can truly call professional sports a career, and those are people who play in leagues and get compensation for what they do. For the rest, it's a hobby, not a career. Same with acting, and other interests.

I just thought I could add something here. What you guys are basically saying and encouraging (from what I understand) is that you shouldn't try and it's a waste of time. That's the same thing people told Eminem when they booed him offstage or told pewdiepie (I'm sure at one point or another his family or friends told him to not waste his time) when he first started. We need people in this world who don't look at statistics and give up. Who knows someone reading this could be the next Payton Manning or Eminem, if they continue to pursue the thing they want as a career. I'm sure if you were on a football team and you guys were at 20 to nothing lose you would feel discouraged yes, but your coach would say you could still win it, and if you all you do is look at statistics (or peoples opinions) you'll give up or worse, forfeit. Most teams have won superbowls, leagues, and even entire seasons coming back from a hard loosing streak that people and statistics would say they couldn't recover from. Often times it's the people who ignore discouragement that beat the odds and become famous, which applies to "real life" and anything else you would want to do.

All that needs to happen is for someone to notice you. Look at pew dew pies first videos. He was nothing back then. Then Boom ! It can become a career. You can't predict the internet. I could go post a video saying the most stupidest thins that even come I to my head and act like a complete messed up kid and all that has to happen is for the right person to share it or for it to end up somewhere like reddit. Stuff happens

YouTube isn't a reliable way of making a living off of. It's still a job though. Only thing I have to say is that kids shouldn't make it their life long goal to become a YouTuber. Not everyone makes it.

Yeah, YouTube isn't for everyone but if you actually have a passion for it instead of uploading videos JUST to hope you get money then yes, big chance you won't succeed but I remember I tried YouTube out just for fun. All I wanted was to kind of show off and I uploaded some videos and montage trailers back in 2011 of call of duty. I was getting a lot of views. I wasn't even advertising atall really. I got a YouTube partnership etc and made 6 off of like 400 views. The views mounted in like 3 months but lets say I got 400 views in a week. There would be more money involved. So if people are getting thousands then they make a good bit of money. I stopped after a while because call of duty is a hard thing to get noticed for nowadays on YouTube and expectations and the amount of people that do it now is just unbelievable. So YouTube wasn't for me but it can be for other people

Wife wrote I am just going to disagree with you on this one.

If you actually make it big, you will be able to buy a house, support your family, buy a car (probably multiple tbh) etc.

Look at PewDiePie.

10 Mill will be more than enough to survive on. And his job is making videos and entertaining people on YouTube.

Absolutely nothing why would you want that people need to step into the real world of life and need to see you can't make a living off of something that was just made for fun

I know many big youtubers have made a career off of just having fun whether it be playing games or any other videos.

ENTERTAINMENT

What do you think Actors are, Comedians, etc. THEY'RE ALL ENTERTAINERS!

So your point is invalid.

You missed the point, you have a very very slim chance of actually becoming a successful youtuber... the odds are astronomical
