Ok, so my friend got 4 Xboxs for free. 3 were red ringed. He brought over one of the red ringed ones this weeked for me to fix. He told me that there was a little switch on the side of it and he asked me what is was. I told him that it was probably a light mod. We plugged the Xbox in, turned it on, and turned the switch on. The light next to the switch turned blue and the Xbox shut off. The light for the switch was still on so I turned the Xbox back on. With it being red ringed, I couldnt have connected it to the TV, and put XeX Menu on it, and see if it would load it. Well I took it apart, and flipped the board upside down and saw a ciruit board connected to the switch. I think that its something to dump the nand, or replace your KV with because on the switch it has a usb mini on it. So maybe you plug it up to your computer, and boot up XeBuild. But can you please watch the video I have provided below so you can take a look at the Xbox and watch what happens when I boot it up? I really need to know what this thing is. Thank you!

PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO AND READ THIS PART! If you watch the video, when I press the power button the yellow light in the power brick turns green for a split second and then turns back to yellow but the red lights on the console still blink. Could this be the red ring or a short in the Xbox board? PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO!

im not to sure but try to boot up the xbox using the eject button, if it boots up xell its a jtag or rgh. if it doesnt tho then it can still be a jtag or rgh because if there isnt xell then the person didnt put xell in the first 50 blocks. But im not to sure. I don't have to much experience with rghs and jtags

Your no help at all^

That is A JTAG, since it has RROD it wont boot xell but it is still exploited. You can send it in to a trusted seller for like 30 bucks to be fixed. If you or your friend wants to

Oooooooo, sorry. Lol - some consoles can reach xell by eject but get red ring with power. Also, since the fact there is a chip and simply isn't a jtag, its more likely a RGH. Just saying "HELP".

Watch the video. The chip is on the bottom as there is standard JTAG wiring on the top

That cant be a nand reader as it has way too many extra wires. My guess is its a jtag with dual nand? If thats possible. Try connecting the wire thats loose and chrcking if your rrod is fixed.

Will do when I get some soldering gel for my solder iron and some wire for it too.

It is a JTAG that looks like someone tried to make a dual nand, which i am pretty sure is impossible. It may be fried. If I were you I would talk a trusted seller or look on team Xecuters forms and try and find a way to remove the demon chip.

it's not impossible, there was equipment to dual nand for the jtag a years ag, can't remember what it was called but it wasn't by team xecuter anyway. But I think you can still use a demon on a jtagged console

Okay, so looking at that it definitely looks like some sort of dual nand chip on the bottom of the board there, that is obviously a standard 16mb TSOP chip on that board - though I don't recognize the model.

Also as others have stated, it's some version or implementation of the JTAG hack based on the J2D2 wiring - however it looked pretty rough / possibly ruined.

As I've never seen that actual chip before, I'm curious enough to give it a look - if you want to cover all the shipping expenses I'd be happy to give it a once over and assuming it's a quick fix do it free.

Just to clarify though - I don't do RROD repair, so if you suspect it has RROD issues SalaMods might be a better fit as I believe he does RROD repair.
