My brothers would also be constantly downloading and seeding torrents which rendered the entire network almost useless. I eventually got fed up and bought my own dedicated broadband 100mpbs line coming into the house for $40 a month. I am now wired directly into the router that was provided to me by TWC and i have locked the WiFi so no-one else in my family can use it.

I have considered doing that multiple times, lol. I find it pointless though, because I'll be moving out, shortly. So it's not worth the trouble, imo.

I also considered waiting until I moved out on my own, but seeing that, that isnt happening anytime in the next year i bought my own line. Not a single bit of regret about doing it. I also enjoy seeing my family rage about how slow it is while i have a nice speedy connection.

That is so evil, hahahaha. And honestly, if I wasn't about to move out, and had reasonably priced broadband, around my area. I'd jump all over that.

I know your pain, when I lived with my parents for a while we lived in a brand new community before they had cable in the area. It was dsl or nothing for about a year, I remember overheating my router from just trying to play online for more than a couple hours.

Yeah I hate how this happens. We have a 30 gig data plan on our phone, and my parents decide to get on the wifi when I'm in the middle of an zombies game on bo2 for 2 hours, so they end up disconnecting me from being on their phones on the wifi when we have 30 GIGS. THATS INSANE. And they still insist on using our 60 kbs wifi. It angers me. I can't even play games if there doing something as simple as Facebook on their phones.

I don't have this issue as I pay for my own internet and therefore no one else can get on it without my password and therefore they have to come talk to me first about it.

I can see how that would be annoying though.

I come from a wealthier family and we get 150mbps and we have over 20 devices on the internet. when I get lag I simply do 1 thing. Turn on parental controls for my sister and other devices. I do not pay and I am the only one with admin password. Pretty easy method. takes maybe 10 clicks.
