I disagree, you pay for sound signature & comfort but I can agree the more you pay the difference will be minimal but it's still a difference.

I've had plenty of headphones and IEM's you can feel the difference in quality and sound if you pay attention to it.

Agreed. I went through 3 pairs of turtle beaches in the time I've had my A40's (about two years). You can buy any old headphones that get the job done but with cost comes quality, so the more the better.

I also disagree.

I can tell the difference between my brothers "cheap" £50 Sony headphones compared to mine which cost £150.

That's not the same in every case. For example, Beats solo is the same as listening to a cheap pair of headphones worth £20 or listening to a party through a wall which is free.

As for why people spend so much; quality. Not only in the music but the build quality is normally better to. More metals, less plastic.
