That's because this claim didn't originate from an expert.
It originated from a reverend called Efrain Rodriguez who had this prophecy, 'supernaturally revealed to him.'
News stories like this snowball because it's easy click bait, new details are invented and nobody cares enough about them to check what is really being said and by who.

People are far more likely to click on, 'expert claims apocalypse is coming' as opposed to 'reverend believes apocalypse is coming.'
