Woodkid wroteJayden- wrote For gods sake, put aside your libertarian values and listen to your president. Or is 295 mass shootings (3 or more victims) since January 1 2015 not enough?
Clearly your "if a criminal wants to get a gun, they will" logic is flawed considering the statistics on mass shootings in countries that have strict gun laws.
Please name a country which has banned guns, has a huge gang problem, borders a country constantly embroiled in gang warfare, where the mass shooting and murder rate with guns is low.
You can't compare America to other countries because there is not another country like America, in its position with its problems.
And most mass shootings in America take place in areas where guns are banned.
Put gangs aside and just looks at school shootings then. White kids who have been bullied or have not fit in. Nothing to do with gangs. The disgruntled ex-news reporter recently. I can think of many instances where gangs and where America is situated has nothing at all to do with it.

For the school shooters the solution to decreasing the number of them is also quite simple.
The US needs to reinstitute the mental health care system that Reagan did away with.
It can help to spot these mentally unstable people and allow authorities to intervene before it gets to the point where they will take a gun and shoot up a school.
And you will never hear me say that background checks don't need to be improved in America, so there's that too.
People don't seem to be going into any nuance with their views on guns. It seems to be either 'Ban guns completely' or 'Change nothing.'
Banning guns completely leaves us with a population of armed criminals and unarmed law abiding citizens, unable to defend themselves.
No change leaves us with the problems of school shootings and mass shootings in general.
There needs to be a balance between these two.

Woodkid wroteIt is very unpopular but if you allow students to carry on campus the threat is dramatically reduced. If you have someone who is trained to use their weapon effectively in a time such as a possible active shooter scenario you'd no long have instances like this where a large amount of people are killed.Jayden- wroteWoodkid wroteJayden- wrote For gods sake, put aside your libertarian values and listen to your president. I can see a lot of scenarios in which students having guns would make the murder/violence rate go up in schools.
Mass school shootings might go down in number, but other problems might rise out of that dynamic.
Plus, it might be harder for teachers to do their jobs. Nobody wants to punish the child who has a gun in his bag.
