I don't see why people think the hard hits in football, don't matter because the players have pads. Now don't get me wrong, I know rugby is tough. But here's my rant.
If you have ever played football, the hits are bone crushing. The pads do a lot less than people who don't play think. The shoulder-pads, are some plastic and styrofoam. The pads in the pants are about an inch thick sheet of foam. The helmets don't prevent too much. A lot of injuries get past the helmets.
Now to the people who will say, "Rugby is more intense cause you don't have pads".
Well I will let science take over.
A "Rugger", from which what I believe, is one of the biggest players in a rugby club.
A "Cornerback", is one of the smallest defensive players in football.
But somehow, in a test taken. A cornerback delivers rougly 3x the force in a tackle than a rugger does. Without pads, NFL players would be dying every game. Now keep in mind, that the test was taken with one of the SMALLEST positions on defense. Think about the biggest.
The mentality is, you hit harder with false protection. Pads don't protect players as much as you think.

I actually read and watched videos on this. Rugby and football are both dangerous and deliver physical damage. Football players DO hit harder, it is proven. Rugby players just hit more often. Neither sport is superior, but they are both dangerous.

This is pretty much smack on! However after re-thinking it, once a football player makes a tackle the game stops and then starts again after a few seconds, rugby they all guard the ball risk people lading on their knecks and what not, also in scrums if it collapses theres a chance of breaking your back/neck

football is just as nasty...thats why they use helmets pads etc. Id like to see a 6' 2" 265lbs LB run someone over without pads.
If you ask me id rather have the pads then think im a bad ass without them

I read about in a "scrum" (I think that is when they are all latched together trying to get the ball out, I don't know anything about rugby tbh, I just like to watch hits and "tries") that a lot of people get hurt during this, spinal injuries and what not.

oh man the announcer on that show was so biased and I know people do it subconsciously but goddamn you can tell the american really wanted the american sport to win.
Anyway, they are both hard hitting sports no doubt but it is a mental thing even if the pads "dont protect players as much as you think" its all a mind game. Wearing pads, ok I can hit harder, bare skin ok let me hit him hard but there is nothing between us.
At the end of the day no one is taking away anything from these two sports, I wouldnt want to be hit by either sides. I have played football before and it does take a toll on your body.

If OP played football, we could see that football may have caused him a head injury. Why did I highlight the word "cause"? To show the OP the proper use of the word "cause". Let's review your title. "FOOTBALL IS EASY CAUSE THEY HAVE PADS" Is it that hard to put "BE" in front of "CAUSE"?
Just screwing with ya OP lol, football is very much still dangerous. How I honestly view the pads is such like this. Picture the person tackling you as trying to slice you with a blade. The pads make it so it is a blunt object so you get a bruise, not an open wound. You can have an open wound from just being kicked. Often times I think the pads should be replaced with 2x4's as they are probably the same density lol. All the pads do is take a centered blow and disperse it over a larger area.

Yea, unfortunately when you get your head stood on playing Rugby you don't have a helmet protecting your napper. No one really says that the hard hitting is different, I'm sure it's just as violent in both sports, but Rugby is more damaging. It's not a good thing, it's not something to boast about, rather play a sport with minimal risk
(I used to play rugby, I'm 6'4 and weigh 220ish LB's, big lad).
