So today my pit killed another dog.

A dog (yorki) ran at her and my brother on a walk.

Of course this is a sad thing to happen and a dog is a dog and doesn't understand and sees a threat and retaliates.

So the cops were called and the owner blamed it all on the Pit bull factor and said she she of been muzzled.

Yeah it get it, shit happens and it sucks. But they are animals and I could of been the same thing with any other dog.

Just because she was a pit. Of course animal control was involved and stated,

"Her being a pit we are labeling her as a vicious dog and she will be put down."

I cannot stand this as she is or was the nicest dog and was only threatened and doing what any dog would.

The other dog was off the leash and not in the yard but my dog is liable.

**** that. **** them. Animal control didn't even ask for our side of the story.

She is a pit bull so that is all they needed to know.

They gave us two options and that was to pay up to a $2,000 fine, insurance coverage of $50,000, and be listed as a vicious dog and never aloud to leave or be put down.

Its almost like they said pay a shit ton of money to have her imprisoned or killed.

I live in illinois and dog are always supposed to be on a leash unless they are fenced in.

But of course the little Yorki wasn't to blame.

Update: She won't be put done but we have to pay a $800 fine and she will be labeled as a vicious dog for the rest of her life..

man that shit sucks. It's the owner of the dog that affects the dogs behavior, I trust you were a good owner. It's hard to tell, I don't know if that dog started fighting with yours or it was being friendly and yours just straight up attacked it.

I feel that man, I'm sorry! When I move out I plan on getting a Pitbull. They're definitely not mean dogs, you just need to know how to raise them.

I feel sorry man, I have one myself and they aren't mean. He is the sweetest dog ever. If it was the pitbull "HULK" I can see why.

Agreed 100%

No dog is vicious, you treat it how you want it to treat others, your dog obviously got a bit pissed off and just went for it, so what, things live to die!

Also sorry to hear about your dog having to be put down, stupid animal control retards, they should be put down, their utter useless twats!

Pit-bull's are defiantly not vicious breeds, I've seen a few before, all happy as could be, yeah, if it sees a bird it's obviously gonna attempt to kill it, doesn't any dog, same goes for a little dog compared to its-self!

Sorry again to hear about your dog, not for the other owner lol!

This could of been for a few things like yourself, the dog or just a complete random incident. More often than not, pit bulls are nice friendly dogs, but sometimes bad ownership can lead to aggressive behavior in dogs. I am not saying that was the cause, because it could be one of many things, or like I said a complete random incident. I feel you though, animal control should of looked into it more.

I got a Pitbull called diesel.
They aren't mean dogs. They feel threatened if another dog is running at them or their owner.
It was the yorki that was in the wrong, not your dog.

I find it funny how people are blaming the Yorki. Let's not forget that this is a dog we're talking about.
When a dog sees another dog, they don't think 'Wow, he looks big, I'd better not go near him or he might harm me or my owners.' they think 'Friend!!! Let's play! I wonder what his bum smells like!'

If you're going to blame anyone from the Yorki side of this, blame the owners for not having it on a leash.

However, I do think there is some merit to the concern that the Pit bull should have had a muzzle. If the dog has never reacted in that way before to another dog being near it, and it has had other dogs near it with no incidents, then you had no reason to suspect that it would need a muzzle.

However, if your dog has never been around other dogs, or has been violent towards other dogs before, then you should have had a muzzle on it just to be safe.

I think, with the limited information we've got, that both sides in this are wrong, and that both of you could have done something to prevent this.

I'm a pet lover man and it all depends on how the owners raise the dog. I believe Rottweilers are slightly portrayed badly in the spot light, I had one before it recently passed, and it didn't have a bad bone in his body, such a lovely dog. It's just some owners have no idea how to raise a dog.

It's all about how they are brought up use to own a pitbull. He was very sweet and loving and was very protective animal. Now if your dog was a good dog and is being put down for this cause another dog decided to attack and the other owner didn't react or have it controlled and was killed due to this act. Well all I can say to the other owner's who's pet died this is your fault not my dogs your dog was in control. Now this sounds blunt but seriously PIT BULLS ARE NOT BAD DOGS. It's sucks to hear about this but honestly if you knew who the owner was oh boy there dog is the least of their worries. PISSES me off to hear about this. Sorry for your loss bud. Please don't think of me as an evil person for how I reacted to this but I would be furious myself.
