Why do some people get so butt hurt when people AT WORK ie cashiers, baggers, stock clerks whatever say "happy holidays" I honestly had only ever heard on like social media about extreme people getting upset at being told "happy holidays" but I experienced it today. I work at a company where the person can choose to say merry christmas, happy holidays or nothing at all. I do not celebrate christmas really SOOOOO I DONT say "Merry Christmas" I dont care if people say it to me but anyway. I told a customer "happy holidays" politly of course and she beamed into my eyes and quite angryly said "MERRY CHRISTMAS" ... Like ok? Not everyone celebrates it, relax. Me saying something shouldnt get you upset like that.. Its the joy within yourself that makes christmas what it is, not what others should have to say to you.

stand down christmas warriors, there is no war on christmas. I repeat STAND DOWN !! I wish had such little going on in my life that I could choose to be offended by 2 words that arent even out of place.

PS christmas isnt a fully christian holiday lmao sorry not sorry

Around my area, 'Happy Holidays' and 'Merry Christmas' have the same reaction. You always get the stare down and someone rudely replies with the opposite of what you said.

Both of the phrases, to me, have the same meaning. Having worked in a grocery store during the holidays, I loved it when people exited a mild conversation with either of the two phrases. It's all a matter of what you like to say in my honest opinion.

It's because the FKing liberals want to take religion out of everything because not everyone is the same religion so it may be "offensive" to some.

I'm not religious, but whenever someone says "happy holidays" to me, I always say "merry Christmas". If that offends you, get over it you sourpuss, there are better things to be offended by than what holiday someone celebrates.

If I say "Happy Holidays" "get over it you soupuss", this is a two way road man. No matter what you say SOMEONE is going to be offended. Im not religious at all, and im not saying happy holidays to take away from others celebration. I say it because I dont celebrate Christmas, if you have a problem with that "get over it you sourpuss" this is the US I have a RIGHT to practice or NOT practice what I want and say what I want when I want where I want and if YOU have a problem with that youre not an american or at the minimum you dont actually care for true American values.

btw that wasnt all directed towards you, I was talking in general. Im not trying to flame, I just speak that way naturally

Same if someone gets offended/mad/irritated that someone said "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." At least with "Happy Holidays," it is saying "Merry Christmas" along with "Happy Hanukkah" and all of the other winter holidays. If being more inclusive to our neighbors is something to get mad over, then I kind of fear where we are currently in this country. I mean, I don't want people to say "Happy Holidays" because they were made to, but I want them to want to say it to be considerate. Personally, I think all of the winter holidays (all holidays in general) can die off, but I'm going to keep being considerate as long as we have them around. If someone gets mad at me for that, then that is totally their problem since I was even being considerate of them.

It's not that serious. It hasn't been that serious for quite a few decades.
Happy Hanukkah.

I honestly don't see why Christmas has to be linked to religion. I was christened, I am a Christian, but I don't really care for religion and don't go to church etc. I still celebrate christmas, it seems like more of a universally recognized holiday season to me, if people don't want to celebrate it, then that's 100% cool with me, but if people get angry because some don't and some do, then that's just stoopid.

This whole thing isn't really a problem in the UK because most people here either aren't religious or don't care about other people's religions.
America, on the other hand, quite obviously has a strong Christian bias. It is one of the least secular, secular countries on the planet.
The whole point of people saying 'Happy Holidays' is to be secular, it applies to everybody and nobody in particular at the same time.

'Secular' doesn't mean, 'no religion', it means, 'all beliefs equally represented.'

I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with that, other than a Christian who thinks it's suddenly a war on Christmas when, 'Keep the Merry, Dump the Myth' billboards are put up next to their, 'Where will you be Christmas Morning?' billboards.
Or they'll moan about a Satanist display being put up in place of their Nativity display.
Their hypocrisy is astounding.

These, 'FKing liberals' aren't saying that religion needs to be taken out of everything, they're saying that all religions should have the right to be represented equally in all of the same things, including what holiday greeting people use.

I get you Qwel, and we don't always share opinions . But I find it ironic you made a rant about people being offended by "two words" when your rant is about them giving you two words back.

Funny world ain't it eh
