Sorry if this is stupid of me as I really don't have a clue at all And just want help so I can play online properly without getting mad and the Internet every 5 seconds!
So if anyone can help I will be very greatful

Do you think it could be the modem or router though or could it just be my location because it's sooo frustrating !!

Most of the time it will depend on your ISP (internet service provider).

If your from the UK i recommend virgin media, they are the fastest and in my opinion the most reliable internet provider. however, i've heard not all of the uk has access to it, so you'll have to check out if your eligible first. In regards to your question, you should be given a wireless router. They stopped doing modems years ago. I've heard your selected ISP isn't the most reliable.

If you have it right next to your Xbox then it's more than likely your ISP that's giving you trouble. If that's the case, there isn't much you can do outside of switching to a different ISP or upgrading to a better package (really this shouldn't matter though, online gaming doesn't require a lot of bandwidth). On the off chance it's your router, make sure your settings are in order. Is UPnP enabled? Do you have an open NAT type when connecting to games? It's best you make sure everything is 100% on your end before you get into the messy stuff.
