I didnt say its better because the leds, its more suited to the OP's needs with being cheaper, u gave him an locked chip with a mobo thats really for unlocked chip. 6600 is better than the 6500 hence why they brought two diff cpu's out. why go with xeon or i7?

There is no point in spending more money on a 6600 for a miniscule increase in clock speed, they release several different ones for the exact reason of people buying the most expensive one because they don't realise that there is practically no difference..

You don't even know if OP has a case that will house an ATX motherobard, hence why I went with a cheaper, better mATX motherboard.

Just because a motherboard have a Z-series Chipset, doesn't mean it is 'really for an unlocked chip'. It will be perfectly fine without one, with additional features, and later down the line OP could put in an unlocked chip and OC it fine.

A Xeon/i7 would be better due to Hyperthreading, which is proving to be of much more importance in newer, demanding games.

Just because you have a 6600 and that flashy LED motherboard, doesn't mean it is better than any other. The only reason I can see people getting it is because they care about trashy LED's more than performance.

It's not cheaper though, it's £5 more expensive with the same features, but a poorer chipset. LEDs are not a feature.

OP- Why specifically Skylake? You could grab a 4460, nice LGA1150 motherboard and be set, but if you go with Skylake, it's going to be a bit more expensive, and you'll have to buy new RAM on top of that. Are you going to overclock, or not? A locked chip is going to be no use if you're looking to overclock. Also, what case do you have? What specific PSU do you have, as it may be worth upgrading if it's poor quality.

What are these additional features that would make someone choose a z170 board over a standard b150 board (when they have a LOCKED cpu). I recommended those because they are great components, and the leds dont really matter to me as im getting a hue+ (trashy huh ;) )im just saying they are nice to look at, gives off the same performance as any other b150 board so shouldnt be a problem

More USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, more PCIe lanes, more SATA ports, M.2 socket (B150 have NONE), supports overclocking for future possibility on a CHEAPER motherboard that will definitely fit in his case whereas that ATX motherboard may not. Once again, no point in getting 6600 over 6500 as it is more expensive for no performance increase. If you buy a lower end board over a higher end one because it has LED's and because the higher end one is 'made for overclocking' even though it is cheaper, then you are an idiot.

Yet the B150 motherboard you specifically mentioned, and then suggested is more expensive than the H170 and Z170 motherboards linked before, that have the same features(if not, more), are cheaper, and are just better chipsets completely. Sure, if aesthetics is an issue for OP, maybe the B150A Gaming Pro would make sense, but you can't just assume, we don't know if OP even has a case with a side window, how useless are those LEDs going to be in a closed case with no window, hm? Or what if OP's colour scheme is black/blue, or black/white, and you're suggesting a black/red motherboard?

This thread isn't about you though. That's all fine and well if you've bought that motherboard and like it. I'd personally take the Z170A Gaming Pro if I was going with Skylake, as I like the aesthetics of that(and the B150A Gaming Pro) since they match my colour scheme, but just because it makes sense for you, doesn't mean it does for other people. Also, just because you have a locked chip, doesn't necessarily mean you have to lock yourself in to a lower end chipset, it's not like a H170/Z170 motherboard is going to be a hindrance, just because you're not going to overclock.
