If I upgraded from a 1999 Buick Century Custom to a 2004 Mazda RX-8 would my insurance go up?

It depends. Typically yes your rates would go up. How much they would go up depends on what state you live in, your driving record, how old you are etc etc...

Get a quote... It takes less than 2 minutes by telling them options on the car, or less than 30 seconds with a vin number.

Hmm yeah maybe do you think it'll be a drastic increase? Like $800 more +?

Not to be off topic or abusive but the rx8 is a terrible car. Most unreliable rotary engine released

Let's use some common sense here. You're going from an old probably beater car to a 2 door sports car. Unless you are 25 years old I it will raise significantly.

My insurance when from 150 a month to 369 a month when I bought my 350z.

Common sense man...

Call your insurance company. Tell them you want to see how more more it would cost to get this new vehicle.

They will already have your information on file so they will need to know Year, make, model, 2dr or 4dr, miles, when you plan on buying it, coverages you want on it.

They can do a rough quote without the VIN, but having the VIN will give them the most accurate quote.

Not necessarily.. Having worked at State Farm, getting a new vehicle will not always make it increase...

Sometimes having an older car is bad because parts for those cars are harder to come across compared to newer cars and have less safety features compared to newer cars.

I've seen people move from a 2005 Chevy Silverado to a brand new 2015 Chevy Silverado and their insurance be cheaper because a 2015 has better safety features, more parts available, etc.

Not saying this will be the case for you, but you never know.

Yes, I'm from Jersey. It's going to go up hella, especially if you're financing it you have to pay max coverage. If you're buying it from a private owner then you'll of course pay more anyway. It's an upgrade for a reason and your insurance see's it. For an Rx8 thats newer than that buick so again yes it will go up. I have personal experience how car sales work and how that effects your insurance. Worked at a car dealership.
