how old you now and how much did it cost you

Don't worry about other peoples cars, man. You've got a small budget and you'll be buying a cash car. Cross your fingers, because most cash cars under 2,500(In the U.S) are going to have problems. Whether it's just no air conditioning, bad power steering, etc.

Take your money, buy something cheap that has little problems, or easily fixable ones and save up as fast as you can. Or, you could always put that 1K down on a car and do payments. Maybe see if they auction cars off. Once in awhile, to raise money, police(In the US) auction old impounded cars, starting at $0. I've seen decent cars sell as little as $500 with no major problems, except bad interior.

If you're going to be picky on a 1K budget, you need to take a step back and realize what cars cost. They are EXPENSIVE. It sucks, but that's how it is. You won't get much that's flashy, eye catching, etc.
i live in the uk not US

I would buy a really cheap car that you know will last. (Toyota and Honda) And the save up from there to buy a nicer car. If you keep buying and selling you will eat a lot of money. What I did was get a decent car to get me to work and school. I have been saving up for a while and I just bought myself a 2013 Honda Civic Si.

Golfs arent bad but rust badly.
Polos are horrid
what year would you say

2002-2005 will be at your budget. There mk6's. From 2005-2008 there were mk6.5s that were same shell but different front and rear bumper designs. Different front and rear lights and a different looking dashboard. I own a mk6 with ST sports bumpers and skirts all round. On 17s looks minted.

I did it myself. Hard to find a car already modded. Most folk sell the bits theyve put on them for standard bits in return so its original when traded in. Try auto trader, gumtree, pistonheads.

Go to Craigslist (or UK equivelant), and look at cars. In the search put your max price to 1500, this way you see some more expensive vehicles and you know there's always room for negotiation. When most people say "sporty" they mean they want a 2 door coupe so I assume that's what you mean. On Craigslist you can specify only show coupes and you will see every car you might want that you can afford.
