There are plenty of ways to earn more money, some of which you may not like. That may include picking up a part time job on the side, or even quitting your job and finding a new one. Join a union, I'm 18 years old fresh out of high school and I joined the carpenters union here in Washington, and my starting wage is $24.55 per hour. In 4 years it goes up to $40 per hour. I get raises every 6 months until I hit that wage, but in the mean time I get a benefits package worth $15 per hour. Every hour I work I get $1 for vacation, I get free healthcare along with anyone dependent on me (like if I were married with kid, they'd be covered) and I have a retirement plan. If I get fired or laid off from my job, the union will find me work until I pick up a job that takes me on full time.
