I used to have a 24" monitor for gaming and it was awesome! It felt so smooth to play on, it took a little adjusting but once I got used to it then it was great.

I love playing on 32inch LED TV.
Good graphics and for me the perfect size for gaming and TV.

In my books, a size matters because the bigger the TV is the more you can see in that sense. If you got a 42'inch TV why not get a 50 inch TV? As you've stated your money level is $1000 so 50 inch TV's are more. I would go for a TV that's in the 40's like 48'inch TV maybe?

55inch 4k. I would get a smart TV though. You'd be paying for something you'll probably never use

dah wroteNot neccessarily. if you're playing FPS shooters than a smaller tv/monitor is better because it won't cause eye strain or eye fatigue. But if you're playing adventure games then sure, go big or go home.In my books, a size matters because the bigger the TV is the more you can see in that sense. If your going to game on it I'd suggest a monitor. But I play on a 32" and I want a smaller one like a 24"

I have recently picked up a BenQ 24" gaming monitor and there is really nothing better. Low latency, low hertz.
