I would go for the home defense, you never know what can happen.

Daniel Defense is one of the best companies out there. They come with a hefty price tag but I'd rather pay for a good rifle that will cover my ass in the field.

A bull pup might be a better option for you as well. I was torn between an SBR for home defense and a standard to long barrel rifle as a bug out type rifle. A bullpup has a standard 16" barrel, but it is cut down 6+". If you look at the picture I posted, it has a 16" barrel which is the same length as your standard AR-15. It saves length by having the mag load in the rear so you can cut most of the stock out.

IWI Tavors are great guns, the only issue is that they only come in 5.56 right now. At the 2016 shot show they did release a .300 black out.

I tend to stay away from .22 caliber bullets lol. I will always take a .30 cal over a .22 but everyone has their preferance.
