So I just now noticed this happening but it has probably been happening since Spectrum gave us a new Modem but basically what is happening is when testing my speed it will shoot up to my normal speed 350 down and then slowly keeps falling until it finishes around 90 could this be a Modem setting? The modem they gave us is a Ubee. Might help to note only speedtest site that doesnt do this is speedtest legacy all others even the speedtest beta falls tremendously while testing it.

Your ping to the nearest server also plays a role in that, Ever since Spectrum bought out TWC (Time Warner Cable) My internet has been absolute garbage, I have the same Router, But I honestly think it's Spectrum now general

I've never had this issue tho it is usually a solid 350 to 400 down and my ping is only 2ms so I dont think it is ping.

The speed test site is no good for testing network stability.

Have you tried downloading something large to see where your download speed sits?

Steam servers can normally pump out downloads at that speed. Not during peak times mind you.

Well I just now bought Tom Clancys: Ghost Recon Wildlands and planet coaster tom clancys only has 4 minutes left and just started about 2 minutes ago so it seems fine it just confuses me why speedtest is doing that when it never did before.

Check your DNS settings. Make sure there are no redundant DNS servers programmed into the modem. You also want to make sure that the line to your house is not noisy and full of interference.

The Ubee modems from TWC are notoriously terrible. Ended up turning mine in and got a Surfboard.

They don't allow you to use your own phone/modem.

Here is a work around I found on their forums.

Not the same modem as your, but same backend; so these rules still apply.

danv wrote Yes, you keep your modem for the phone and they drop the modem charge. Seems weird but true. I added a splitter, one side to the purchased modem for internet and other side to existing modem that now only does phone. They disconnect the internet part of the TWC modem, you keep it though for phone use, but now you do not pay for it. Seems odd, but the way it is.

Just be aware, this splitter is going to bring more noise.

Ok so update on this, maybe it is just speed test that is messed up because I just bought the new COD and my internet is all good or so it seems.
