Eli wrote The fact that Youtube didn't take the video down is interesting, and it seems like one of the few times they've taken a principled stance on something.

When VICE did their documentary about the forest they also showed dead bodies hanging from trees and that video wasn't removed either.
Both videos do, in essence, exploit the corpses in the forest to make money. They just do it in very different ways.
VICE being through a somewhat high budget, somber, respectful documentary and Logan Paul's being basically the opposite.

The people saying that Youtube should have removed the video, removed his channel, etc. might not realize that they are asking Youtube to decide what level of professionalism is the correct amount of professionalism to be able to show something like this.

I just don't see how that would work.

What if someone made a video which was about the forest, showed a dead body, but was somewhere between Logan Paul's video and VICE's documentary in terms of professionalism and respect?
Do we want Youtube to be the one's deciding if we can see that or not? I don't.

A lot of people were getting upset about the video not being taking down by YouTube/Logan originally because some people have claimed to talk about eating disorders or any other mental illness and their video was flagged and eventually removed, which I can see people seeing it as because he is known on YouTube, he's allowed to get away with more. I do agree how he acted was rather poor, making jokes and laughing -- whether that was his coping method or not is up for debate, different people react to things like that differently. I personally don't think the video should have been removed forcefully by YouTube because he just filmed a dead body, I would argue it differently if he was like taking the body and throwing it around or anything of that mantle. In the end, I don't think YouTube should have a say in the removal of that video. I don't even like the dude but anyone could be recording in that forest (any forest for that matter) for a documentary or just out exploring and happen to come across a body, just poor timing when recording.

I guess they already do this though because you can't see things on Youtube that you would see on Liveleak [as far as I know.]

It's a very rare occurrence, in an earlier post I mentioned about how YouTube will take down gruesome/extreme 'meme' compilations, which do consist of death. There was one video a few months back that got some good attention before being removed that was playing the song It's the Hard-Knock Life with videos of people falling to their death, fatal vehicle crashes, people getting crushed by doors, trailers, machinery equipment at work and one dude getting pulled through some rotary device at work and being slammed into the ground while employees scramble to try and save what's left of him. I'm sure there are thousands of stuff you would find on LiveLeak on YouTube that were just posted as an unlisted posting so only people with the link have it. There are ways people try to get away with those things and others are just straight up blatant with their wording and a video is there with a clear title of what it's about. Most of the times these videos are recent, like less than a few days recent because eventually YouTube will get to it.

Ok i agree with you 99% of the time but i really disagree with some of the points you made -

"Because he just filmed a dead body"

Why should he get away with this when it is written clearly in the you tube TOS that violent or graphic content is disallowed? He shouldn't, especially when his view base is primarily 10-12 year old's.

I'll include a screenshot and a link to the TOS:

Why? Their job is to remove content that breaks the TOS and obviously because he is such a golden star in their books they don't demonetise any of his content or take down any of his shit and theirs only one clear reason for that because the guy makes them millions.

"Anyone could be recording in that forest (any forest for that matter) for a documentary or just out exploring and happen to come across a body, just poor timing when recording."

Sorry but this point infuriated me.

Lets say you have 3 million subscribers and 90% of your audience was 10-12 year old's and you came across someone hanging in a forest when you were doing a vlog what do you do?

A - Keep recording and get closer to the body to the point where you could see his purple hands and the buttons on his coat and begin to chuckle (Regardless of how someone deals with a situation like this laughing is NOT ok.)

Or B - Edit the body out or do this magical thing called not upload a dead body to the internet and call the emergency services.

Which one would you pick?

I'll leave you with this, a breakdown of his "apology"

Honestly, there are thousands of videos on YouTube with dead bodies. Some people just need to learn to get over things, this was his first "mistake" since he started uploading. He was caught up in the moment, not knowing what to do or how to react.

I think it is less about how he reacted and more that he filmed it, edited it, and uploaded it without thinking there was anything wrong with it. Now, maybe he has people that edit and upload for him, but he still has control and the people editing/uploading still have power to tell him if it is a bad idea.

He's "famous" because we're talking about him.
Let his reputation and career die, quit talking about him if you want him to go away.

All shit like this is doing is making him relevant again.
He apologized for this long after it happened, it couldn't be more obvious what he's doing.

He turned into something I don't like. I used to enjoy him.
