i think this site is amazing, but i think and im sure many of you think the same, that the growth of this site isnt gonna go anywhere and thats just because the main purpose this site is around has died. 2016 Early November or late september this site has hit 2 million members. 1.5 years later and it has gained 134,417 members. 2134417 / 9 = 237157.444. this site averages 237157.444 members a year and its been 2 years and only gained half of that. enough of the member growth because this isnt what im trying to make this about but its the people on the site and what people are taking it for now.

Everyone on the site keeps going for a higher post amount and the alltime high badge (which i think was a great idea but its site breaking). I know many people talked about this and complain about it but so many people make so many useless replies its not even funny. in the B/S/T forum you will see lots of 'GLWS' in here you will see a lot of 'oh ya i agree' and in the graphics forum you will barely see criticism just 'nice work' responses and the forum games are just being recreated and remade by the same people over and over again. The off topic forum has no variety its the same stuff most the time. as of right now whats on the front page? how many of the questions are similar? go to the 3rd page, see any difference? (would say go to 2nd but thats actually a bit different for once). now thats enough for now. i love how ttg has a shop and its an amazing way to profit, keep the site, and afford new integrations into the site. unfortunately i lost the magic touch i had with this site. i used to love this site and i still do but its slowly getting annoying to just come on and see the same stuff over and over and over and over again. now im sure people just dont have questions or anything to post but please just revive the old posts instead of posting it yourself and replying to your own forums with simple replies that are not needed and not just yours but everyones posts. if its not useful or relevant dont even bother hitting submit.

heres a strong point i made to adam, and i explain how the site ISNT DEAD.

You say that TTG is dead, I say otherwise. I was saying this a couple of years ago but you can't compare it to the modded lobbies days. Sure, the site had a lot of traffic back then, but realistically, people where more interested in getting mods and such rather than contributing to the forum.

What I see now is a lot of hard working members that want to make a difference for TTG. Making topics, engaging in conversations and talking to each other all helps.

Sean has put a lot of work into allowing people to contribute in more ways than just posting too, like the badge system ect. There's many things you can do on TTG, maybe you're just not into the whole scene any more?

In terms of the SB, I'd say I've been active in there since what 2014? It's calmed down so much since then. I came back last year to see a whole new crowd in there, a different vibe, more chilled, less memes. It actually feels like the SB has grown up.

I don't know about anyone else, but TTG is still the place I go to talk about tech and keep up with news. There's so many people you can relate to, talk to, even game with.

Cheeky edit for spelling

might wanna make an edit because i never said the site was dying or dead. i personally think this site will live on for many more years to come but if we keep this up all the one hit wonders are gonna leave after 5 minutes on this site. theres 0 interaction for new members, they come into the off topic and see nothing but the same god damn post over and over again why would they want to stay? they dont even get treated well like i was saying with the shoutbox earlier. they dont know that you're joking with them if you do mess around with them. Why do you think you stayed? you joined when modding was huge, you had an appeal to the site now you're loyal. new kids come in out of no where probably because they heard of this site from old videos or friends and they dont know what to do. MODDING HAS DIED and same as the growth of the site which is why im saying the member count isnt going to explode like it did back then the REASON THIS SITE IS BIG HAS DIED. luckily it had loyal members like us but look what its becoming, people like me are getting tired of it and are debating to quit. and of course im not the entirety of the site and everyone has reasons for staying like the news etc etc what ever... and i dont think kids are making an effort to engage when they're commenting dry 10 letter replies completely off topic from what the post is even about, i mean some of them are and i like it. they want to make friends, have fun, what ever... but the badges are the reason why everyone is so janky now.. it encourages activity which is what i like but its draw back is the abuse of simply doing nothing. open a topic type something random or the 1st words that come to mind when you read the title and you're gone.. i think the pc section is what this site is going to be based around now, the pc forum guys hand over good advice and it seems to be going strong unlike modding and what not. i havent been huge in those sections anymore because i quit console gaming so im normally around the general area so i dont really know how strong it is over there... idek what im talkin about anymore so ill stop it here

Interesting take, I recently was allowed to be able to join back to the site. My own biggest take is how much people bitch about silly internet things, some parts of the site are stale but it's download section is thriving. I'm just going to reference Sean's Post

The downloads section is very active and is good for PC and 360 stuff mainly. Xbox one now has Vantage and we're seeing an increase in simple things like game saves again. The only thing that bothers me with the download section is people submitting themes and them stuff for gameboy advance etc, like who even owns them anymore? It's simply submitting nonsense for a badge.

There is a lot of good stuff in there, don't get me wrong. In terms of posts in the off-topic etc, yeah I get it, it's repetitive but people still come back day after day. It's mainly newbies who are trying to grind up post count like it matters.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. People come on here for gaming news, people come on here for the shoutbox, hell, people just come on here to pass some time. If you grow out the site, you grow out the site. You're 1/2,134,425 my friend.

i was gonna mention the growth of the downloads probably being due to development of software and hardware (like consoles) advancements but i totally agree with you. The PC forum and that part of the TTG community is amazing, everyones resourceful and you can actually get many solid answers for a quick question. As someone who doesnt really fit into many of the categories on this site anymore i cant really enjoy it or pass time because of all the repetitive posts and replies its the same thing everyday. when i read an off topic forum or news topic about something i want to read other peoples opinions and outputs on the situation not a quick reply just to get a +1 to their post count. maybe i am growing out and maybe my time is coming to an end because like i said, i dont fit anywhere on this site anymore. Shoutbox is full of ttg big names egoing me, off topic is the same, and everything else is self explanatory because of my absence from gaming and those genres. guess we'll have to see if i still enjoy this as i keep going.

(also instead of using ____ to seperate use the linebreak bb code aka [ hr ])

I was thinking the same thing yesterday about all those goddamn pointless 'Forum Games' topics. I've seen the same games posted over and over again, since they're trying to hit the 'Monthly Top Topics' like maniacs. But, to each their own.

If anything, the site's not dead. These people keep it 'active' but it is void of quality topics and replies, that's for sure.
