Definitely not how it works. Corporate could care less about your hours or what you were told you were going to work. If you have a sh** work load you wont get any hours. You need to prove yourself just as you would for any business

well in all my jobs when you sign a contract saying you have 20 hours a week you are guaranteed those 20 hours if you aren't they are breaking your contract and if yiou contact your union you will be paid for the hours they haven't given you, no idea what contracts youve been sighing

You have no idea what you are talking about. I worked for the company we are talking about for 5 YEARS!!! There is no contract you sign in writing that you are guaranteed a certain amount of hours. I know how the company is run, you do NOT. They can say by word of mouth you can get X amount of hours. Totally different than signing a contract as there is NO contract you sign regarding hours. Dont tell me what i know and dont know as I was full time and considered a position leading to managment. I knew the CEO and the president of the company as I met them numerous times. I know what I'm talking about in regards to this topic.

Ive never heard of a job which you dont sign a contact regarding hours, even people with 0 hours sign a contract within all the companies Ive worked for. Litrally every job ive been to you sign a contract to say you understand what you have to do and what hours you will work. These are litrally industry standard for retail where I live

Ontop of that, I said "well in all my jobs" refering to all the jobs I personally have gone for so dont need to get pissy and be a dick is there hmmm?

Well for publix as a corporation that's not what happens. You are never fully guaranteed a certain amount of hours unless you are full time you will get 40 hours a week. As a part time employee your hours will differ every week. They have to meet a certain quota and it's also based on each store and its sales as well as the manager in which department you work for who makes the schedule each week. I am VERY familiar with publix and trust me when I say I know what I'm talking about. They have on average 100-150 employees per store. If your store is slow or your work sucks then you with get hours. It's very simple.

I'm not being a dick I'm just telling you how it is. Youre' taking it that way as I'm implying what I know about the company in regards to the hours as well as the regulatory requirements in which they look for and what they do as a company in general. The man who made this topic was weary as to why he isnt getting any hours so I'm just giving him more info so he can gain more knowledge and learn more about the company and what it looks for as well as what needs to be done to earn more hours. You can be told one thing but if it's not hand signed it comes in one hand and sh*** out the other.

You should find another place to work then. You can still work there, but you should find somewhere else to work as well.
