Just downloaded the elgato software after re downloading windows and this happened previously,
it just says Connect capture device to get started
I have tried disabling HDCP, unplugging everything, restarting, boot with only elgato plugged in, switched the hdmis about, uninstalled and re installed. nothing seems to be working.
Any ideas?

hey
try to download OBS and see if it detects it just to determine if its just a program issue [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
you can also try to reinstall the latest drivers
what exact elgato do you have?
you can also try to run the elgato software in windows 8 compatibility mode who knows that might fix it
right click on the elgato software
click properties
then you will see something like this
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
check "run this program in compatibility mode for:"
then make sure it says windows 8 in the drop down like this
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
tap on apply and see if that works
