You could also try running a chkdsk on the C:/.

Open CMD as Administrator, type chkdsk c: and see if it brings up any problems.

What type of router do you have?

It should be fairly simple, what ports are you trying to open also? Are you sure it's not a local firewall problem?

Instead of that you could also perform a Clone of the drive and move everything over.

Use Virtual Clone Drive or Acronis.

The only thing that I can actually think of is formatting the drive so it's completely empty.

Will remove absolutely everything on it, then you can use it for whatever purpose.
