Towelroot=kernel root. It cant delete your data. (i have rooted with it and it works fine)

Update: Have used the software to root my phone and the process goes well, but i dont end up having root access. opening SuperSU gives me an error that says "su binary not installed and ...

If you want to root you have to unlock the bootloader (on some devices) which voids you warranty.

If you are eon 7.1 down you should use evasi0n. if you already updated to 7.1 up you can use Pangu.
