Synopsis Rating: 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gameplay

The gameplay has changed a little since past Midnight clubs. The cars are realistic to a point, the point being is that in MCLA you can have custom power-ups (but for the traditional racer these can be disabled). Unlike other racing games the graphics are not only ephasised in the cars, but also in the surrounding LA area. And this game is a game you could play over and over.

Gameplay Rating: 8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Graphics

The Graphics in MCLA are Really Good. Rockstar games spent so Alot time in just the detail of this game. From the cars, to the buildings, even people walking the street, they spent alot of time putting detail into everything unlike most racing games. This is why I think me and many other players have fell in love with this game.

Graphics: 10

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Multiplayer

The multiplayer in this game is great, it supports every type of driver. If your the driver who likes to kick back and cruise the LA cost with your friends, or challange people to races, here at the multiplayer you can do it all. The only bad thing about it you HAVE to download the DLC (which is no charge)but has over 1 GB of space, so it takes of memory and takes some time to download.

Multiplayer Rating: 9

Synopsis

Borderlands is a game set in a futuristic-apocalyptic wasteland, on the planet Pandora. Playing as a battle-hardened soldier, a massive killing machine, a sneaky, sly hunter, or a cybernetic siren. Killing bandits, skags, and anything else that comes in your way.

Gameplay

Borderlands has a very unique gameplay style. it's an RPG, but still uses run and gun tactics. You can level up your character and abilities with Skill Points you get from levelling up.

Rating

9.5

Graphics

Borderlands uses cell-shaded graphics, which is pretty unique for modern games. Even though they look cartoony, they suit the game VERY well. Borderlands with realistic graphics just wouldn't be Borderlands.

Rating

8

Multiplayer

Borderlands' multiplayer is just co-op, with a tiny twist, you can duel with your friends at any moment in time. This adds for a bit of fun, but isn't anything amazing. The cool thing about Borderlands' multiplayer is the fact that the enemies and loot you get raise depending on the amount of players you have. So saying that, if I played single player, I wouldn't get as good of weapons as I would if I played with friend A, if friend B joined, we would get even more loot. Awesome addition. Your weapons and level stays from your singleplayer so don't worry about starting over. The enemies levels are also dependant on whoever is hosting the game.

9.5

Characters

Borderlands has 4 protagonists you can play as.
Roland the Soldier
Brick the Berserker
Lilith the Siren
Mordecai the Hunter
The soldier uses assault rifles the best, his special ability is a turret, which once upgraded can prove very useful (Regen. ammo, regen. health, etc.)

The berserker uses shotguns and SMGs the best, his special ability is berserk mode.
He pulls out his fists, goes into a rage, and starts punching away, you can add elemental artifacts to add elemental damage to the abilities.

The siren's ability is phasewalk, it allows her to sip into another dimension, and attack enemies without being seen. Damage happening with entrance and exit of phasewalk.

The hunter has a bet "bird" named "Bloodwing" he throws him out and he flies to the nearest enemy and attacks it. With upgrading, you can get more damage, more enemies in one flight etc.
Overall, the enemies are very unique and have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Rating

10

DLC

Borderlands GOTY comes with 4 extra DLC.
Zombie Island of Dr.Ned
Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot
Secret Armory of General Knoxx
Claptrap's Robot Revolution
Just like the game, the DLC is very unique.
I can say Zombie Island is my favorite ALL TIME DLC of ANY game i've ever played, something about it just makes it amazing.
The only DLC I don't like is the Underdome, it gets very repetitive and takes forever to finish a single arena match. The only good thing is the bank.

Closing Thoughts

This game is AMAZING. I reccomend to anyone. The sheer uniqueness (as ive mentioned tons of times above) is what makes the game.
Who else would've thought of Claptraps for skags, nobody (Except maybe Valve).
As a final rating, I would give Borderlands a 9/10.
Thanks for reading.

There have been some great looking reviews guys - thanks to everybody for submitting them!

I do have 2 points to note however:
1. Any reviews being submitted for game which already has a thread should be posted as a reply to that thread - not here in Post a Review.
2. Any review which has been copied will be ignored. Any member which is caught copying on multiple occasions will have all future reviews ignored and may face further punitive measures depending on frequency/severity.

Players: Online
Rating (ESRB:( M (Mature)
Number of DLC:N/A

Synopsis
APB, developed by Realtime Worlds (Crackdown) is an open world urban MMO, where each of the two action areas are isolated segments of a city, and each is capable of housing up to 80 players at any one time. It's a third person shooter based on the age-old game of cops and robbers, where you're either a reckless criminal or an enforcer trying to put a stop to them. It's one of the few MMOs released that is almost entirely player-versus-player centric, in that it relies on players on both sides of the law to be active for any real conflict to ever occur.

Gameplay
APB has the basic gameplay of cops vs. robbers. You can do an amazing amount of stuff in the game though. Ram raids, mugging, story missions, online missions, fencing, etc.
The way it works, you choose either enforcer (cop) or criminal (robber) at the start when you make your character, and go from there. Other players cannot attack you unless they witness you committing a crime, or you are in a mission that they are in. All in all, it has really fun gameplay considering it is a free game.

Rating
8.5

Graphics
The graphics in APB are kind of weird, it almost looks like a very very slight amount of fog wherever you look, but for a free MMO, they are pretty dang good graphics.

Rating
7

Characters
In APB there is two "factions" enforcers and criminals, they are pretty self explanatory. The enforcers are corrupt police allowing them to kill civilians too. So, if you are an enforcer and you witness a criminal doing a crime, you can choose to go and arrest him, or kill him. The criminal will then run, or attack. If you get your noteriety up to 5, then every player on the enemy team will see you on there map and will get an extra bonus for killing you.
Rating
6

Final Thoughts
Although APB is a very fun game, the concept it comes with is very known (GTA, Saints Row etc.) If you have the time, definitely try it out since the game itself is free.

Final Rating
7.5

Just Cause 2

Game Information
Release Date: March 23, 2010
Developed By: Square Enix, Eidos Interactive, Avalanche Studios
Genre: Open World, Action Adventure, Third-Person Shooter
Platform: Xbox, PS3, PC
Age Restrictions: M, 18+

Rating:

9.5/10

The game:

There are the standard campaign missions as well as side missions. Out side of the campaign, the player completes many faction missions and other random missions. The player can choose to do these missions or complete the mission.

Synopsis:

Just Cause 2 begins a few years after the first Just Cause as Rico if being dropped into Panau, near real world Malaysia. During the first mission, you are dropped into an enemy area after being hit by anti-air and dropping important memory cards. Rico, the main character, was going into the country to depose the current ruler, and evil dictator, Baby Panay. His father was a US supporter, and Rico was sent in to ensure another US ally was elected to office. Along with that, Rico was going to assassinate a rogue American agent Tom Sheldon. In order to find Sheldon, Rico befriends the three criminal organizations on the island. These include the Roaches, an organized crime group, the Reapers, a communist group of fighters, and the Ular boys, a group of foreign resisting rebels. While working with these groups, the Sloth Demon contacts you. This turns out to be Tom Sheldon and he asks you to continue to cause chaos in the country in order to find out the truth. Sheldon later demands that you help him by saving an agency operative, Jade Tan, as she is being tortured. You save her and leave with her after you destroy the base she has been kept in. After being airlifted by Sheldon and Kane, you find out from Tan that the tree factions have been receiving support from China, Japan and Russia. The factions have been trying to overthrow Panay in order to take control of the island. Rico and Sheldon do not realize why there is so much of a power struggle between the nations. Rico kills all of the Intel liaisons to the super powers, in turn causing enough chaos to force Panay into his fortified military base. Using the help of one of the three factions, Rico goes into the base and supposedly kills Panay and Karl Blaine. And escapes the compound before it self-destructs. Rico is asked to hold off supertankers coming from Russia, Japan, and China until US reinforcements arrive. Suddenly, a nuclear submarine emerges with Baby Panay inside of it. He launches nuclear missiles with destinations in the US, China, Japan, and Russia. Both Rico and Panay end up on one of the missiles. Rico redirects the missiles and kills Panay once and for all. One of the missiles was redirected for the oil reserves and destroys them and Rico explains that war and their death was not worth the oil.

Story Line Rating:

The story line is not exactly long enough to my liking, however there are enough side missions and objectives to keep you busy for a while. I give it an 8/10

Free Mode Rating:

There are many different things you can do from hijacking car to flying a commuter jet. There are many territories to destroy and things to do other than complete the story line. I give the free mode a 10/10.

Graphics:

The graphics on this game are pretty good looking and are very good for an RPG/free mode game. The graphics are a 9/10.

Overall:

The game is only lacking of a longer campaign and it also needs a cooperative multiplayer. Overall it is a well rounded and extremely good game. I give it a 9.5/10

Need for Speed Shift

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Game Information
Release Date: 15 September 2009
Developed By: Slightly Mad Studios, EA Bright Light (PSP), Electronic Arts
Genre: Racing
Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, iOS, Android, Symbian
Rating: E, 7+

Game Play:

Need for Speed Shift was made for those who are more into the racing games. It is much more difficult to control than the other previous NFS games. The game is a much more aggressive and difficult game than other NFS games. There is no particular story mode involved in Shift, the only thing similar to a story is the fact that making money and earning stars is required to unlocked new missions and vehicles. This game has improved upon NFS ProStreet in the fact that it created a more realistic and difficult racing experience.

Cars:

There are 60+ cars that are divided into 4 tiers. The tier 1 represents average cars, tier 2 represents performance cars, tier 3 represents supercars, like the Lamborghini Gallardo, and tier 4 represents hypercars, similar to the Bugatti Veyron. Similar to the previous games, the car improvements include body mods for cosmetics and performance mods. These are similar to the previous NFS games, however they are more expansive and have been refined. Through many add-ons, the producers have added many new vehicles.

Rating:

Overall this game seemed to be almost to much of a challenge to the average racer. I feel like the game was structured well, however it was too difficult to finish the game. The graphics however were incredible and seemed extremely realistic. I give it a 7/10

Saints Row

Release Date: August 29th, 2006
Developers: Volition, Inc
Publishers: THQ
Genre: Open world, Action adventure
Players: Single player/Multiplayer
Platforms: Xbox 360
Rating (ESRB): Mature

Synopsis

Saints row is set in stilwater based off of Detroit and Chicago which follows a unnamed character who finds himself in the middle of a gang war attempting to avoid near death. Like all storys though he soon finds himself alongside julius, the Third Street Saints leader battling it out to help clean the streets of crime and of course to gain power. What he doesn't realize is that he has alot to learn about who he can trust.

Story:

As you begin your canonizing you immediately plan on how to take over the city by force. Julius will have you all over the city doing things for him that seem unreasonable but of course you follow orders as you are loyal and cannot talk. Taking over citys is not easy so of course you will also have to do side missions to help take over what soon will become yours.

Customization

One thing volition came through with was customization. There are numerous items you can use to dress your male character ranging from jewelry to tattoos. Be sure to where lots of purple aswell since its your gang color you will receive far more respect. Not only are there mass amount of items to customize your character with but they have also but alit of detail to clothing with rolling up pant legs or sagging.

Mission Structure

Not a fan of the way missions were handled on this one ,it becomes repetitive at times with going after each gang individually as if none of the gangs even know each other. The intensity of the missions were not up to par either they all lacked feeling which became a major let down.

Multiplayer

One of the best things about saints row was its multiplayer. There are a vast amount of modes you can choose from whether your in the mood for a little team work or simply working alone. It seems to me that this is what they spent alot of time on i can honestly say that the modes they have added in multiplayer are something i have never seen in previous sandbox games.

Graphics

The graphics are ok for the time that it was released, sure they could have been better but with all the other things that they have added in the game graphics are just a small problem that saints row faces. There are little to no bugs in the game that i have encountered so that was a positive feature to me.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

I reccomend this game to anyone that has yet to play it yet. The missions may not be as fun but free roaming and multiplayer are definitely worth trying out

Assassin's Creed

Release Date: November 14, 2007
Developers: Ubisoft Montreal, Gameloft, Griptonite Games
Publishers: Ubisoft
Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC
Genre: Action, Adventure
Player: Single Player
Rating (ESRB): M (MATURE)

Synopsis

Assassin's Creed is an award-winning historical third person, stealth action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. The bulk of the game takes place during the Third Crusade, with the plot revolving around a sect known as the Secret Order of Hashashin (Assassins). The player is in reality playing as a modern-day man named Desmond Miles, who through the use of a machine named the "Animus", is allowed the viewing and controlling of the protagonist's genetic memories of his ancestors, in this case, Altar ibn-La'Ahad, a member of the Assassins.

Through this plot device, details emerge of a struggle between two factions, the Knights Templar and the Assassins, over an artifact known as a "Piece of Eden", an ancient artifact used to control minds. The game primarily takes place during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land in 1191. The game received generally positive reviews, and won several awards at E3 in 2006. The story of a separate assassin, Assassin's Creed II, was released in November 2009. The sequel to Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, was released in November 2010. A subsequent sequel, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, was released on November 15, 2011.

Gameplay

The gameplay is decent but not the best, this can be a confusing game at first. The thing I really hated about it is when there is a "movie part" you have to change the camera angle and if you dont you can miss out on some good stuff. Also the camera angle in game is VERY BAD. I mainly like this game for climbing on stuff and doing free running But its also a great learning game the time period is pretty accurate and the assassin part of the game actually happened (the same kind of assassins)

Gameplay Rating: 8

Graphics

The graphics are really good the devs captured a past time in a different country (thats all based off of real places). They captured the time period to the tee and overall this is still one of the best games (based on graphics) that took place in a past time period ive ever played I recommend getting this game for a learning experince.

Grapichs Rating: 9

Reception

Pro game reviewers reviewed this pretty highly and the game had a almost perfect all around review.
