The pressure and speed of the water on the bridge support, it was not built for that kind of water, only a tiny river but the floods made it a torrent of surging water

Im lucky there has been hardy any rain here but in the west some places are under 10 foot!

just to give you guys an update, the body they found by the coast was confirmed to be the policemen. Rest in peace mate, my prayers are with the family.

I used to live in east but now i live west and am pretty worried, my house is right next to a river too

i know. Everyone should have decent flood defences. Like in 2005 carlisle floods. They got flood barriers when it finished. But cockermouth didnt, even though they were affected as well. They could really have used them these past 24 hrs...
