Yeah, it's pretty important. Could mean the difference between upgrading just a few things and almost everything. Unfortunately prebuilts are generally just not worth upgrading so you might be better-off building a new system and selling your current one.

Check out my build. Parts should be arriving soon, but I have most of it already.

GPU; MSI R7950 Twin Frozr OC Radeon HD 7950 3GB

1000 TB harddrive
16gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM
128 GB SSD
750 watt Corsair PSU
Cooler Master HAF 922 case
Total~ $1200

Looks good. Would've been better off with Samsing 30nm RAM, an Asrock Z77 Extreme4, and there are better cases for the price, but it's very good! Good luck, not that you should need it!

An i3-2100 + 7850 will get you better gaming performance. An i5-2500k and a lower end 7770 will not get you as good gaming performance but it will excel in applications that utilize all the cores to the max.

I definitely want to overclock, so I'll get the i5. Is there a gpu in between the 7770 and 7850? Could be Nvidia, don't care.

There is nothing good in the sub $120 range that Nvidia has.

Grab a Hyper 212 and a decent board if you want to overclock.

I was just browsing the egg, looking for stuff, when I came across this bumblebee ASRock board. Believe it or not, someone I'm helping build a new computer jokingly asked if I could find anything with a black and yellow color scheme. Just wanna know if it would be worth it for him, he said he plans on overclocking and already owns a full legit water cooling setup he used previously.

I learned that black/yellow are specifically ASRock's overclocking boards. Fun fact.

Dat 40mm fan on the VRM's. Enjoy that coil whine and noise.

Does he really want to spend almost double just for the sake of a colour scheme? Chances are he'd never use the high end features.

Oh my... Ummmm... Get the Extreme4 that's black and do something else yellow. Unless he's going tri-SLI or completely totally all-out.

I warned him about the tiny fan, he says "No f*cks were given about a damn noisy tiny *ss fan."

He most likely won't touch the pretty features on the board, but he's set on buying it though. Money is a very small object for this guy. Heck, the guy is ordering 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum..he came to me asking for mobo recommendations, I'll just have him read this..thanks.
