I don't think consoles will ever come to end. It's not just the specs that matter because consoles will never be the fastest they can be unless they make a new console every 18 months (following Moore's Law). But it's the features that come with xbox that make all the diffidence. Its simple things like, not having a controller, kinect, or even playing on their living room TV. Plus not everyone wants to build their own PC when they can just get an xbox.
PCs will always be more expensive than consoles. An xbox costs $300 + $50 a year for gold, or a $600+ computer not including a desk, screen, chair, and keyboard, that can run your price up another $200. And again following Moore's Law you will want to buy new parts every 18 months spending even more money.
In my opinion I will always prefer xbox > PC gaming, because most of my friends don't have a gaming computer, including me since I can't afford one.

Formspring wrote They can never come to an end because companies will always make new ones and once apple finally wakes up and makes one...then everyone will buy thatApple are all about money, It wouldn't surprise me if they charged you for trying to play a game on their console.

Console are not ending any time soon. Hence the anticipated 720 and PS4 that have been already confirmed. However, physical copies of games like CD's and stuff is going to be gone very soon. Technology is so advanced that you'll be able to "stream" video games, like download games from the distributors servers.

I think that PC's will eventually over power consoles...Well, they already are! There is far more things a PC is capable of doing than a console...Graphics, Response Times, Processing, Opening things, etc. Im not much into PC gaming but I don't think we'll have to worry about too much happening anytime soon
