Unless you're only doing video editing and music producing your money is going to pure waste. Sorry for being so "blunt" with you but it's the truth.

What about if you want outstanding customer service.
What if you want a build quality that makes Sony Vaios feel cheap.
What if you want a premium feel and outstanding smart, yet simple designs.
What if you prefer the fact that they don't freeze half as much as windows PC's.
What if you want something that will last more than 3 years without breaking.

The list goes on, the point is that they're a premium product, and even though they are expensive - you 100% get what you pay for, if you know what you're buying. The only two models left behind are the Mac Pro and MacBook pro (excluding the retina display one).

I'm just saying, that it's not just about POWER POWER POWER, it's about everything else as well.
What if you want a computer with better specs for less money?
What if Apple use other people's products and pretend their Apple's.
What if you want a PC that isn't built out of sh*tty plastic?

See, what Apple do is put an i5 processor on a sh*tty mobo, put an Apple badge on it and sell it for 10 times what it cost them. My custom PC cost a fraction of the price of a mac and it blows Apple products out of the water.

Other PC manufacturers have good customer service as well
Build quality that makes Vaios seem cheap? What about Asus, and the premium end of the Sony Vaio line, like the Vaio Z?
Premium feel? What about Asus, Lenovo, Sony laptops which are also made of aluminium?
Lies. You have no proof to back up that statement. BTW, if you try, please use laptops that are priced in the same range as a mac or higher ($1000+)
Nope. Tons of people have XP machines that still work. Sure, if you buy a $400 laptop, this may be different, but if you pay $1000+ for a laptop/desktop like you would with a Mac, I can guarantee that it will likely last for three years. Also, there's no guarantee that a Mac will last for three years either, just go on the MacRumors forums and read up on all the horror stories people have had with their machines over there.

The fact is, Mac users compare a $500 laptops/desktop to a $1200-$2000 one. Of course your laptop/desktop that cost over twice to four times as much is going to be better, it would be utterly sad if it wasn't.

Not everyone is going to want to build a PC and nobody should try to talk them into it. You have to face facts here. The iMac's specs are plenty for what OP needs to do, and it's essentially a matter of more effort yielding more performance.

Of course Apple rebrands hardware! So does almost every electronics company out there. All DRAM is made by a few manufacturers, mainly Samsung and Micron (now Micron + Elpida). Corsair, which too many people view as the cream of the crop of PC components, makes very few of their own products and they rebrand cases, sealed liquid coolers (Asetek), power supplies (various, including CWT and Seasonic), RAM (Samsung and Micron like everyone else), and more. Nvidia and AMD don't assemble the cards themselves! Apple uses many Foxconn components, which is a name you can find in tons of prebuilt PCs and laptops, game consoles, and tons of other consumer technology products. Re-branding is neither a bad thing nor something unique to any one company. They have high profit margins just like any other company and this is not something you can knock them for. It's business.

The fit and finish on all Apple products is incredible. This is undeniable, but for things like the iMac, the benefits are debatable and almost always cause problems. They are truly beautiful products!

One thing people rarely consider when they compare iMacs to custom-built PCs is the fact that the monitor would cost some $800 to match on the PC side. Then you have the peripherals (which are awful by enthusiast standards, but perfect by average consumer standards) You may find this relevant: Forums/t=4158919/apple-computers.html

Best part of this argument? Neither side can be wrong.
