Mkv can only be played on the pc. You can use MPC (Media Player Classic) or VLC. MPC is the better choice imo.

Like Activez said above me, MPC is great, VLC is just 'meh'. In order to make it even better, follow this guide to add in different filters to make whatever you're watching look even prettier [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

.MKVs are generally not supported by things like DVD Players or gaming consoles. Rooting an Android makes it possible, but it's much easier to use one of the players on your PC.

(I'm presuming that you mean the .MKV files are suppose to be 3D). Seeing how none of the .MKVs I possess are optimized for 3D (can't think of a single 3D anime), I can't for sure answer this question. I'd more than imagine however that they will not be 3D through your computer screen. There's a reason you need to buy 3D TVs to watch 3D movies, instead of just putting the glasses on over a standard LCD TV. My guess is that it goes by the same principal, so they will not be 3D coming off of MPC.

Converter for what? .MKV to a format or vice versa? Changing the file type will not make it 3D by the way if that's what you're getting at

What kind of input do you have for the TV? I'm guessing simply USB or is it VGA? If USB, you'd be best off with .AVI or .MP4 which most modern TV's support
